Article - The Power of the Vril

 'Sonnenrad' or 'Black Sun'
The 'Vril Force' or 'Vril Energy' is said to be derived from the 'Black Sun', - represented as a form of swastika, made up of numerous 'Sig' runes.
It is claimed that the 'Vril' exists in the center of the Earth, putting out radiation in the form of Vril energy.

The term 'Schwarze Sonne' (Black Sun), also referred to as the 'Sonnenrad' ("Sun Wheel"), is a symbol of great esoteric and occult significance.
'Sonnenrad Mosaic' - 'Schloss Wewelsburg'
Its design is based on a 'sun wheel' - hence 'Sonnenrad'.
It is also used in occult currents of Germanic neopaganism, and in 'Irminenschaft' or 'Armanenschaft' inspired esotericism.

The Vril force was known to the ancients under many names, and it has been called 'Chi', 'Ojas', 'Vril', 'Astral Light', 'Odic Forces' and 'Orgone'.

In a discussion of the 28th degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry - called 'Knight of the Sun' or 'Prince Adept' - Albert Pike said,
'There is in nature one most potent force, by means whereof a single man, who could possess himself of it, and should know how to direct it, could revolutionize and change the face of the world.'
This is the force that the inner occult circle of the 'Thule Gesellschaft' were so desperately trying to unleash upon the world.
Dietrich Eckart
Karl Haushofer
One of the leading figures in the 'Vril Gesellschaft' was General/Professor Karl Haushofer (1869-1946) whose theories of Geopolitics gave rise to the concept of 'Lebensraum' (living space), which Hitler maintained would be necessary to the continued dominance of the superior Aryan race, and which he intended to take, primarily, from the Soviet Union.
Haushofer, along with Dietrich Eckart (1868-1923) - the journalist and playwright, who influenced Hitler by training him in the occult sciences and, in addition, introduced him to influential social circles after the First World War - is frequently described as a practicing magician, and probably the 'master magician' of the National Socialist Party.
Haushofer excelled at Munich University, where he began to develop his lifelong interest in the Far East.
After leaving university, he entered the German army, where his great intelligence ensured a rapid rise through the ranks.
His knowledge of the Far East earned him a posting as a military adviser in Japan.
Haushofer believed that the German people originated in Central Asia, and that it was the 'Indo-Germanic' race which guaranteed the permanence, nobility and greatness of the world.
While in Japan, Haushofer was initiated into one of the most important secret Buddhist societies, and to have sworn, if he failed in his ‘mission’, to commit suicide in accordance with the time-honored ceremonial.
Haushofer was also a firm believer in the legend of 'Thule', the lost Aryan homeland in the far north, which had once been the centre of an advanced civilization possessed of magical powers.

In 1925, the 'Vril Society' (also known as the 'Luminous Lodge') was formed by a group of Berlin occultists, including Karl Haushofer and Dietrich Eckart.

Hermann Julius Oberst

It is also believed that Rudolf Heß was also an influential member, with strong links to Maria Orsitsch (see below).
There is only one primary source of information on the Vril Gesellschaft: Willy Ley, a German rocket engineer who fled to the United States in 1933.

Willy Ley
Willy Ley was a German rocket engineer who had emigrated to the United States in 1937. In 1947, he published an article titled 'Pseudoscience in Naziland' in the magazine 'Astounding Science Fiction'. He wrote that the high popularity of irrational convictions in Germany at that time explained how Nazism could have fallen on such fertile ground. Among various pseudoscientific groups he mentions one that looked for the 'Vril': "This group was literally founded upon a novel (?) That group which I think called itself 'Wahrheitsgesellschaft' – 'The Society for Truth' – and which was more or less localised in Berlin, devoted its time looking for 'Vril'." - Ley was later, in the US, a close associate of von Braun.

Such a group, however, actually existed, and they even published a magazine in Germany which publicly proclaimed their credo.
Baron Lytton
Henry William Pickersgill
In addition Theosophists were themselves interested in the concept of the 'Vril Force'.
Еле́на Петро́вна Блава́тская - Helena Blavatsky, the founder of Theosophy, endorsed the view, in her book 'Isis Unveiled' (1877) and again in 'The Secret Doctrine' (1888), that the 'Vril' was not simply a fictional concept to be found in Bulwer-Lytton' novel 'The Coming Race', but rather a reality.
The novel, 'The Coming Race', is an early example of 'science fiction' or 'science fantasy'.
However, many readers at the time it was published believed that its account of a superior subterranean master race, and the energy-form called "Vril" was accurate, to the extent that some theosophists accepted the book as truth.
Bulwer-Lytton's novel, 'Rienzi, der Letzte der Tribunen' (Rienzi, the Last Tribune) was made into an opera by Richard Wagner in 1842 - and happened to be one of Adolf Hitler's favourite works by Wagner - his favourite being 'Parsifal'.
According to the novel, Vril can be changed into the mightiest agency over all types of matter, both animate and inanimate.
It can destroy like lightning, or replenish life, heal, or cure.
It is used to rend ways through solid matter.
Its light is said to be steadier, softer and healthier than that from any flammable material.
It can also be used as a power source for animating mechanisms.
'Vril' can be harnessed by use of the 'Vril staff', or by mental concentration.
A 'Vril staff' is an object in the shape of a wand or a staff, which is used as a channel for 'Vril'.
It is also said that if an army met another army, and both had command of the 'Vril-force', both sides would be annihilated.
The idea of 'mutation' and 'transformation' into a higher form of a 'god-man' was envisioned, through the 'Vril', in Buller-Lytton's novel.
Golden Dawn Emblem
Edward Bulwer-Lytton belonged to the 'Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn', which in itself was (and still is) a very esoteric secret society which branched out from the English Rosicrucian Order.
A prominent member of the 'Golden Dawn' was Aleister Crowley, and the society included William Butler Yeats, Author Bram Stoker, Florence Farr  and Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers.

In Blavatsky's system, the Vril power, and its attainment by a superhuman elite are worked into a mystical doctrine of race, however, the character of the subterranean people was transformed.
Helena Blavatsky
Instead of potential conquerors, they were benevolent (if mysterious) spiritual guides.
Blavatsky's recurrent homage to Bulwer-Lytton and the 'Vril' force has exerted a lasting influence on other esoteric authors.

In Germany and Austria, knowledge of the Vril was communicated by a group of female psychic mediums led by the Thule Gesellschaft medium Maria Orsitsch (Orsic) of Zagreb, who claimed to have received communication from Aryan aliens living on Alpha Tauri, in the Aldebaran system.
Apparently these aliens had visited Earth, and it was suggested that the word 'Vril' originally meant 'like god'.
Maria Orsitsch
The 'aliens were subdivided into masters, white 'god-like' people who described themselves as Aryans, and other different human races. These latter developed because of climatic changes on the individual planets, and were the result of a degeneration of the God-like people. These mutants came to have a spiritual development inferior to the God-like people. The more the races mixed together, the more their spiritual development was degraded. Consequently, when the sun of their system began to expand, they were no longer able to make interplanetary voyages like their ancestors; it had become impossible for them to leave their planets. Thus the inferior races, totally dependent on the masters, came to be evacuated in spaceships, and taken to other habitable planets. In spite of the differences, there was respect between these two races, they did not encroach upon each other’s living space (in contrast to Earth). The race of the masters, the white 'god-like people', had started to colonise other planets similar to Earth 500 million years ago, following the expansion of their sun, and the growing heat resulting from it, which made the planets uninhabitable. It was said that they colonised planets in our solar system (possibly Mars). From there, the 'god-like' people came to Earth for the first time.

The Society taught concentration exercises designed to awaken the forces of Vril, but the main goal of many in the group was to achieve 'Raumflug' (Spaceflight) in order to reach Aldebaran - a solar system 68 light-years away in the constellation Taurus.
To achieve this, the Vril Society joined the Thule Gesellschaft and DHvSS ('Die Herren vom Schwarzen Stein' - 'Men of the Black Stone') to fund an ambitious program involving an 'inter-dimensional flight machine' based on psychic revelations from the Aldebaran aliens.
In 1922, Thule and Vril constructed Germany's first flight disc, the 'JFM' ('Jenseitsflugmaschine') or 'Other World Flight Machine', in Munich, for flight testing that lasted two years.
Winfried Otto Schumann
The project was led by Winfried Otto Schumann (May 20, 1888 – September 22, 1974) of the Technical University of Munich, but the project was halted in 1924 with the machine dismantled and shipped to Messerschmidt's Augsburg facility, where it was stored for future research.
Winfried Otto Schumann was born in Tübingen, Germany, the son of a physical chemist. His early years were spent in Kassel and in Berndorf, a town near Vienna. He majored in electrical engineering at the Technical College in Karlsruhe. In 1912 he gained a doctorate with high-voltage technology as his thesis. Prior to the First World War, he managed the high voltage laboratory at Brown, Boveri & Cie. During 1920, he was made a professor at the Technical University in Stuttgart, where he had previously been employed as a research assistant. He subsequently took a position as professor of physics at the University of Jena. In 1924, he was made professor and director of the Electrophysical Laboratory at the Technical University of Munich. Brought to America under Operation Paperclip. During 1947–1948 he worked at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, USA and then returned to his post in Munich.
Professor Schumann developed a levitation unit from the research, which was called the 'Schumann-Munich or SM-Levitator'.

Viktor Schauberger
At the same time, the scientist Viktor Schauberger was working on a similar project.
He was using the teaching of Johannes Kepler, who was in possession of the secret doctrine of the Pythagoreans.
This concerned knowledge of 'implosion' (in this case, meaning the utilisation of the potential of inner worlds in the outer world).
The members of the Thule and Vril Societies knew that the divine principle is always creative, that is to say, constructive.
A technology which, by contrast, relies on explosion is therefore destructive, opposed to such a principle.
So one would wish to create a technology relying on 'implosion'.
Schauberger’s oscillation teachings (the principle of the harmonic series - monotone) is part of the understanding of 'implosion'.
By means of the energy trajectories of the monotone and 'implosion' technology one can penetrate into the domain of antimatter, and in this way one can dissolve gravity.
"If water or air is rotated into a twisting form of oscillation known as ‘colloidal’, a build up of energy results, which, with immense power, can cause levitation. This form of movement is able to carry with it its own means of power generation. This principle leads logically to its application in the design of the 'ideal aircraft' requiring almost no motive power."....Viktor Schauberger
"The ‘flying saucer’ which was flight-tested on the 19th February 1945, near Prague, and attained a height of 15,000 meters in 3 minutes, and a horizontal speed of 2,200 km/hours (1,366 mph !). It was constructed according to a Model 1 built at the Mauthausen Camp in collaboration with the first-class stress-analyst and propulsion engineers assigned to me there. It was only after the end of the war that I came to hear, through one of the workers under my direction, a Czech, that further, intensive development was in progress. From what I understand, just before the end of the war, the machine was supposed to have been destroyed on Keitel's orders. That's the last I heard of it..... In this affair, several armament specialists were also involved who appeared at the works in Prague, shortly before my return to Vienna, and asked that I demonstrate the fundamental basis of it: The creation of an atomic low-pressure zone, which develops in seconds when either air or water is caused to move radially and axially under conditions of a falling temperature gradient….. " ...Viktor Schauberger
After the Second World War Viktor Schauberger was forced to work for the American government.
Also, within the SS there was a group working on the production of alternative energy: the Research Group IV of the Black Sun = SS-E-IV whose main objective was to make Germany independent of foreign crude oil.
The SS-E-IV developed the 'Thule Mechanism', later called the 'Thule Tachyonator' from the Vril mechanism, and from the 'tachyon converter' of Captain Hans Coler.
This propulsion system was used in the first flying discs.

AFTERMATH
In the end, those who had true knowledge of the power of the Vril either died at the end of the Second World War, or simply - and mysteriously - disappeared from history.....
or did they ?
