While the 'Boss', Jim, Max and Faunus relax in the 'old world' Tucson Inn - Ethan and Josh continue to improve their marksmanship, while Kurt works on Brody's wrestling skills.....
Reception - Arizona Inn - Night
Despite Max's complaints, and the lightning, they eventually found their way to the reception area of the Arizona Inn.
It was all very quaint - but the hotel, as they would later find out, had a surprising degree of luxury - which was just as well, as it was quite expensive.
Jim guessed that the hotel had been designed, furnished and decorated with the wealthy, conservative and older vacationers (UK  holidaymaker) in mind  - and he hoped that their stay wasn't going to be too boring.
This hotel was a little different to the previous hotels in which they had stayed in that it had a normal layout or rooms in the main building, but in addition, in the immaculately kept grounds, there were situated chalets of various sizes for those guests who require a greater degree of privacy.
While Chuck had been provided with a room in the main building, the 'Boss', Jim Max and Faunus would be staying in a large, very luxurious chalet.
While there was a private dining room in the chalet, for the evening meal - for even after their 'diner snack' they were still looking forward to a substantial evening meal - the 'Boss' chose to take their first meal in the main, public dining room.
As they took their places at table the 'Boss' looked over to Jim.
"Well, what do you think of it ?", the 'Boss' asked.
"Very nice - very expensive looking - but to me it seems very old fashioned - I mean the style... the décor.", Jim replied, trying to be polite.
"Makes me feel like I'm sitting here in the middle of a movie - like an old Western.", Max said.
"Actually, Max, in a way you're right.
Tourism is big business in this area, but unlike in Vegas, where tourism is all about gambling and entertainment, here they try to remind their guests of the old West - but in a refined, genteel way.", the 'Boss' explained.
Faunus just shook his head.
There were some things about humans that he just couldn't understand - and 'nostalgia' was one of them.
The meal was excellent, but they were all tired.
It had been a long day, starting with 'Taliesin West' in Scottsdale, and then continuing with a visit to the Phoenix Temple and the drive back to the Biltmore - and then the drive to Tucson.
And during the day of 'sightseeing', Jim had been given much to think about with regard to Mormonism, and in particular, Moroni.
With a rousing finale to the day provided by a violent electrical storm, they had finally found a moment to relax in the comfort of a new hotel - which had transported them into a 'chintzy' reproduction of the old American south-west.
Jim guessed that the 'Boss' was intending to make this his base for a while, from where he could organise events in Vegas, Los Angeles and elsewhere, while tucked away in the Arizona Inn, a reclusive resort for 'seniors', as the 'elderly' are termed in the US.
Jim and Max dutifully thanked the 'Boss' for an interesting day, and then it was 'time for bed'.

Jim's Bedroom
The room was large, the bed was comfortable, and Jim had slept well.
Although the drapes were closed, the brilliance of the morning sun caused Jim to awaken from a seemingly dreamless sleep.
After showering and dressing, Jim decided not to go to Max's room to wake him, but instead to 'phone the 'Boss'.
The 'Boss' was surprised to receive Jim's call, but was relieved to discover that Jim only wanted to know if the 'Boss' was ready to take breakfast.
Later, when Jim approached the table in the breakfast room where the 'Boss' was already seated, the 'Boss' stood up and rather formally held out his had.
"So, Jim,", the 'Boss' began, "Why up so early, and without Max ?", the 'Boss' asked, as Jim shook his hand.
"Oh, I just let Max sleep, Sir.", Jim replied.
"I thought he was tired after the long drive.", Jim added.
Breakfast Room - Arizona Inn
"I see... well, sit down, and have something to eat...", the 'Boss' said, resuming his seat, and gesturing for Jim to be seated also.
So, Jim...", the 'Boss' began, after a few awkward moments silence.
"What's this really about ?"
Jim looked nervous.
"There's a question that I need to ask...", Jim began.
"Go on.", the 'Boss' said, as he poured Jim some coffee.
"It's like this....
"I enjoyed the trip round the Temple, and all the explanations about the Mormons - but I can't help wondering what it was all about...", Jim explained hesitantly.
"The 'Boss' looked at Jim intently, and smiled.
"It was about telling you something of the history of this part of the world, and telling you about some of the beliefs that many of the people living around here have, Jim.", the 'Boss' said.
"I know, but at the end - what you said about Moroni, elementals, and Æons...
Well I know that Faunus always said the he was a 'servant of the Æons' - Faunus restored those memories when he helped me, after bringing me back from 'Area 51' - but you were saying that beings like that were responsible for Joseph Smith's death, and all the weird ideas that the Mormons have, and how it's dangerous to listen to such 'beings'...
It made me think that you were somehow trying to warn me about Faunus....", Jim said, his voice  sinking to a whisper - almost as if he didn't want anyone - and probably Faunus, to hear what he was saying.
"Well maybe it could have sounded like that, but it was not meant to.
I trust Faunus completely - and I hope that you can also....", the 'Boss' replied, as Max entered the breakfast room.
"Hi !", Max said brightly.
"Why didn't you call for me, Jim ?, Max asked.
"I thought you were tired, and needed a lie in.", Jim replied.
"What I need to do, Jim, is get some breakfast, get into the pool, and get some sun !", Max said, enthusiastically.
It seemed that Max had forgotten all about the previous evening, and all the serious talk, and simply wanted to 'relax in the sun'.
This, of course was to be expected as, thanks to Faunus, Max had only the vaguest memories of all that serious talk - and that was just as well.
Stranger in the Breakfast Room
Max ate in silence - seemingly very hungry, while the 'Boss' looked at Jim questioningly.
In next to no time Max had finished, and was encouraging Jim to join him for a session in the gym and the pool.
"OK, boys... I'll see you at lunch, and then I want to take you for a look round Tucson...", the 'Boss' said as he was summarily abandoned.
As they passed through the breakfast room, a distinguished looking older man, seated alone at one of the tables, looked up.
"Morning boys !", he said, casually, as if he knew them.
"Good morning, Sir...", Jim replied, puzzled at how familiar the man's voice sounded.
Jim after the Table-Tennis
But Jim dismissed the meeting, presuming the man was probably a retired gentleman, with an eye for attractive boys, who was vacationing alone, and maybe looking for some company - and maybe more...
"So who's the old guy ?", Max asked knowingly, as they made their way back to their rooms.
"I don't know... really....", Jim replied.
"Maybe he's a friend of the 'Boss'....", Jim suggested.
Apparently forgetting the incident, both boys got changed and made their way down to the pool and the gym.
Then, prior to their training session in the gym, they had a quick 'knock about' on one of the 'table-tennis' tables by the pool.
They then started their weight training - with Jim instructing Max, who had little experience of training, with the techniques and methods that he had recently been taught by Zac at the gym in Vegas.
Gym at the Arizona Inn - Tucson
The Gym in the Arizona Inn was by no means a professional gym - like the one that Jim and Ethan used in Vegas, but as they would only be staying in Tucson for a short period it was quite adequate for the boys to stay in shape.
After their weight-training session, Jim and Max went to the pool.
Pool at the 'Arizona Inn' - Tucson - Arizona
The pool was not as elaborate as the pool at the Biltmore in Phoenix, but the pool was set in beautiful grounds, and had sufficient length for the purposes for training.
In addition there were plenty of places to stretch out and take the sun.
Having swam numerous lengths and indulged in some 'horse-play. in the practically deserted pool, Jim and Max lay out on a pair of sun-loungers, while hotel staff brought them voluminous, fluffy towels and refreshments.
Jim felt at that point that he could at last relax.
He obviously missed the company of the 'Penthouse Gang' - Ethan, Josh and Zac, and wondered what they were doing, but Max was good company.
The 'Boss' had reassured him after the disturbing discussions about the Mormons - and his confidence in Faunus had been restored.
He did feel a little isolated, however, as the 'Boss', at the beginning of their travels, had asked him not to contact his friends in Vegas, (by email or mobile), as the 'Boss' feared that such contacts might be traced.
Jim was lying back, taking in the sun, and reflecting on all that had happened since they had left 'Vegas, when he felt the coolness of a shadow over part of his body.
Somebody was standing nearby.
"I saw you in the breakfast room.", the distinguished old man began hesitantly.
"I hope you didn't mind me saying hello, but I had the strangest feeling that we had met before...".
Jim looked up through half closed eyes.
Salt Lake City - Utah
(note Salt Lake Temple in the centre)
He thought that it was not a very original 'chat-up line', but the elderly man seemed quite harmless.
"I live in Salt Lake city." - the still unidentified man said.
"Oh...", Jim said, puzzled and wondering where this was going to lead.
"I live in 'Vegas, so unless you've been there, I doubt if we have ever met before.", Jim said, hoping that his answer would put a polite end to the conversation.
"It's unusual to see young lads, like yourself and your friend, in a hotel like this - it's mainly for us old folks.", the man then said.
Jim felt obliged to reply.
"Probably,", Jim began.
"Me and my cousin here, Max, are with my 'uncle'.
We're touring round Arizona.", Jim explained.
As soon as he said it Jim realised he had made a mistake.
By revealing Max's name it would make it inevitable that his own name and the gentleman's name would have to be given, and after 'introductions' it would be difficult to avoid a further conversation.
"I see...", The old gentleman said.
"And you are ?"
Jim had no option.
"I'm Jim."
"And I'm Nathan...", the old gentleman said.
Jim sat up, thinking it was more polite, and pulled the towel round himself, covering his brief Speedos so that he looked a little more 'dressed'.
They shook hands, and at the same time Max sat up, and also shook hand with 'Nathan'.
There was an embarrassed pause.
"So what ‘line of business’ are you in, Nathan ?", Jim asked (it was a good question that he had learned from listening to the 'Boss').
"Well, I was a professor.", Nathan said rather vaguely.
Brigham Young University - Salt Lake City - Utah
"At Brigham Young University...".
On hearing this Jim began to get a creepy feeling.
To Max it meant nothing, as he had been snoring while the 'Boss' had been recounting how Brigham Young had followed Joseph Smith as leader of the 'Church of the Latter Day Saints', and had led the Mormons to Utah.
"A professor of what ?", Jim asked rather pointedly, sensing that Nathan was not being very forthcoming.
"Philosophy....", Nathan replied, equally vaguely.
"Oh, I studied philosophy when I was younger.", Jim blurted out, not realizing what he was saying.
Nathan looked puzzled...
"I didn't know that High Schools taught philosophy ...!", the elderly man said, taken aback.
"And you said you studied philosophy when you were younger, but you can only be about eighteen now...".
Jim had not been thinking...
"Well it was not real philosophy - just 'kids stuff.'... and by younger I meant just a year ago.", Jim answered, desperately trying to correct himself.
(Of course Jim had been thinking back to his 'past life', when he had studied Aristotle and Neoplatonism with his Greek tutor, Aristarchos. This, it seemed was the penalty for having his memories almost completely restored by Faunus).
"I see...", Nathan said, sounding confused - because, of course, he didn't 'see' at all.
"And are you still teaching ?", Jim asked, trying to bring the awkward conversation onto an even keel.
"No....", Nathan said sadly.
"I had to retire - memory problems, you know.
The doctors are not sure what the problem is.
I can remember recent things with no trouble at all, but most of my past is a complete blank.", Nathan explained, sounding really dejected.
Faunus
Jim knew only too well the symptoms that Nathan was describing - and it set him wondering.
Jim was then in a quandary.
Should he say anything about his own memory loss, or just bring the conversation to a polite end.
At that moment Faunus turned up, looking very casual, as usual.
Although Faunus was at the pool, he undoubtedly would not be swimming or sum-bathing.
While Faunus, in that 'other place, and other time' never gave a second though to disporting himself naked - 'Greek style' - here he wouldn't wander about naked (obviously), and he refused to countenance wearing 'Speedos', as such things were similar to the despised Roman costume (if Speedos constitute a 'costume') of a gladiator, or performer in the arena - and he never even appeared bare chested.
"Good morning boys !", Faunus said cheerfully.
"I see that you've met Nathan."
CIA Agent Edward Smith
"Yes....", Jim stuttered, frantically wondering how Faunus could already have met Nathan.
"Ah ! Good morning, Edward ", Nathan replied.
Edward Smith - Observatory Director
'Oh no, not Edward Smith again !' Jim said to himself, his thoughts racing.
'I wonder what Faunus is pretending to be now - a CIA Agent, the Director of the Lowell Observatory, a Mormon Elder ?', the images were by then swirling around in Jim's confused mind.
'And how did 'Nathan actually 'see' Faunus ?'
Life with Faunus was problematic, to say the least.
A 'roller coaster' of identities and events...
Jim decided to 'bite the bullet'.
"So how did you to come to know each-other."
Nathan looked to Faunus (Edward), but it seemed that Faunus was not going to help.
"Well really, I'm not quite sure - it was a long time ago - and as I told you, my memory's not what it once was.
Edward Smith - Mormon 'Elder'
But we've been friends for a long time.", Nathan struggled to explain
Now considering how young Faunus looked, Jim was wondering why Nathan thought that he had known 'Edward' for a long time.
It was all very confusing, and by this time, Max had conveniently drifted off to sleep - just like he had done repeatedly during the journey from Phoenix to Tucson.
"So you know that Nathan comes from Salt lake City, in Utah, and that he was a professor at the Brigham Young University ?", Jim asked, trying to get to the bottom of things.
"Oh yes...", Faunus replied, not giving anything away.
"And does Nathan know who you are... 'Edward' ?, Jim asked, almost sarcastically.
"Yes, of course.", Faunus replied, realizing that Jim was obviously suspicious.
"So he knows that you work for the CIA, are the Director of the Lowell Observatory, and a Mormon Elder - among other things ?", Jim asked.
Nathan looked shocked.
"Don't worry, Nathan... he's only joking.
'Boys will be boys' you know.", Faunus said, looking angrily at Jim.
"But excuse us for a moment, Nathan.
I need to have a private word with Jim.", Faunus said as he dragged Jim up from the sun lounger.
Faunus then led Jim to the other side of the pool.
"What are you doing, Jim ?", Faunus, obviously annoyed, asked Jim.
"Just trying to find out what's going on !", Jim said firmly.
"Well just give me a chance !", Faunus replied.
"When you first arrived in this 'time and place' I was gentle with you... so why can't you be the same with Nathan ?", Faunus asked, seemingly exasperated.
"But this is not Nathan, is it ?
Just like you're not 'Edward', or a CIA agent, or an astronomer, or a Mormon.", Jim said.
"Well no...", Faunus admitted.
"So why all the play-acting ?", Jim asked.
Faunus looked strangely embarrassed.
"Ask Josh... he knows..."
Faunus then paused, weighing up what he was about to say.
"I'm a faun, that's what we... us fauns do... that's why the 'Boss' called me 'Picaro' - I'm just a boy at heart - playing games."

Picaro is a Spanish term meaning a 'puck', rogue, prankster or urchin.

Jim instantly regretted the things he'd been saying, and felt an overwhelming urge to give Faunus a hug - but he stopped himself.
Perhaps Faunus was just 'playing' with him as well.
"No Jim, I'm not playing with you, I'm telling you the truth, and I'm sorry if I've upset you.", Faunus said - having easily read Jim's thoughts.
"I know." Jim said.
"But who is Nathan ?", Jim persisted.
Isn't it obvious ?... He's Novius - but he doesn't know it - yet.
You said, when we were driving from Phoenix to here, that you missed him, so - here he is !", Faunus explained, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Jim sat heavily on the nearest sun-bed, nearly tipping it over.
"Of course !
I should have recognised him.
The beard, the twinkling eyes, the voice.
How could I have been so stupid ?", Jim said, feeling utterly foolish.
"Well, as I have told you and Josh often, you humans can be really stupid when you want to be...", Faunus said, grinning.
"But this is all a real surprise, Faunus.
When we were driving here you said it might take a long time to find Novius, and I should wait until we were back in Vegas... and now... next day... a guy you say is Novius turns up, thinking he's a Mormon from Utah !"
"Well, that's the way things go...", Faunus said in the infuriatingly casual manner that he so often adopted.
"So why does he think he's called 'Nathan', and why does he think he's a professor from Utah.", Jim asked, desperately trying to understand what was going on.
"Well, why did Ethan think he was 'Ethan', and why did he think he had an American family, and why did he behave like the 'all American boy next door' ?". Faunus replied.
"You mean it's a way of adapting them to a new time and place... gradually.", Jim said, with a smile.
"Exactly !
Except that with you it went a bit wrong, and you ended up with no memories at all - which was a problem.
But you must admit that I got it right in the end.", Faunus said proudly.
"Yes, all except the face... I still don't look exactly like Marcus.", Jim said, sounding a little annoyed.
"Well I think you look even more handsome !", Faunus said.
"OK, well what do we do now ?", Jim asked.
"I'll go off and spend the rest of the day with Nathan, sorting out his memories.
Max will remember nothing of all this, except saying 'good morning' to Nathan in the breakfast room - so don't even mention it to him.
You and Max finish your sunbathing and swimming - have lunch with the 'Boss', and enjoy yourselves in Tucson, and I will come and see you after your trip,  and set up the telescope for you."
With that Faunus tousled Jim's hair, and went off to collect Nathan.
Meanwhile, Jim returned to where Max was sleeping on the sun-bed.
"So...'sleepy-head', we'd better check with the 'Boss'.", Jim said,
"So let's head for the showers."
Max slowly got up from the sun-bed, yawning, and picked up his towel.
"Fancy some 'fun' in the showers ?", Max asked, with a wicked grin.
"Yes, very much...", Jim replied, but it's getting late, and I think the 'Boss' will be waiting for us."
Max looked downcast.
"Don't worry, Max, there's always tonight.", Jim said.
And so, some time later, dressed and looking smart, the boys went down to reception where the 'Boss' was reluctantly chatting to some of the other, rather elderly guests.
"Oh what handsome boys !", a silver haired old lady, expensively dressed, and with glittering ear-rings and jewelled bangles remarked effusively to the 'Boss', as she caught sight of Jim and Max.
"Are they your sons ?", she asked, her eyes still young enough to twinkle.
"No... these two are nephews - and quite a handful. 'Boss' dissembled.
The 'Boss' then made his excuses to his 'companions', and hurried Jim and Max away.
"Never do that to me again - leaving me alone with those people !", the 'Boss' said, feigning anger.
"Those kind of people are really terrible - harmless really, but they do prattle on about nothing...
Now come with me out to the main entrance... I've something to show Jim."
They went out onto the small patio at he entrance to the Inn, and there in the courtyard stood a truly amazing looking auto-mobile.
'Souvenir from Arizona'
"This is for you, Jim, as you're old enough to drive.
Consider it a 'Souvenir from Arizona'."
Jim gasped.
"For me ?"
The 'Boss' nodded and led him down the steps to examine to remarkable looking vehicle.
"It's specially customised with all the 'extras' made of solid silver.", the 'Boss' explained.
"Now I know that you probably think it's a bit 'strange', but remember, in 'Vegas it will be truly admired - after all, everyone in Nevada and California is obsessed with guns, and imagines they're  'cowboys', and as the 'Boss' of the 'California Combat Club' it will be expected for you to have a stylish limo.", the 'Boss' continued, justifying the unbelievably expensive confection of Western symbolism."
"Don't worry, Sir....I think it's wonderful.
How can I thank you ?", Jim said.
The 'Boss' laid a hand on Jim's shoulder.
"You can thank me just by being you !", the 'Boss' said with feeling.
"Anyway, that's enough of that !", the 'Boss' said, obviously embarrassed, and changing the subject instantly.
"Let's take a look around Tucson and go for lunch."
The 'Boss' and the boys descended the short flight of steps and, surprisingly, the 'Boss' held the passenger door of the convertible open for Jim and Max.
Equally surprising was the fact that the 'Boss', without further ado, slid himself comfortably into the driving seat.
Jim had never seen the 'Boss' drive a car, as he always normally had Chuck as his chauffeur.
"You drive, Sir ?", Jim asked.
"Of course Jim !
How do you think I got around when I was in Mexico ?"
Jim felt foolish.
"Of course, Sir.
Please don't think I was being rude.", Jim replied, trying to correct himself.
"You must remember, Jim, I've been here a lot longer that you.", the 'Boss' replied, with a wicked smile.
Max, wisely said nothing.
And so they drove into the shopping area of Tucson and, not surprisingly, their car (or should we say, Jim's car), was the centre of attention.
Meanwhile, back in Vegas, Zac was wearily taking Ethan and Josh in the white Chevy back to the 'Villa Jaguar' Hunting Lodge for yet another day of shooting practice - but the boys were getting better, as Zac was a skilful and patient teacher, but then, like the 'Boss', he had been in this 'time and place' a lot longer than the boys.

California Combat Club
At the same time Brody made his way - but by public transport - to the California Combat Club.
Tripp, the young 'gopher' at the club, had been made responsible for ensuring that Brody was properly equipped with socks, boots, a G-string and wrestling trunks for his training sessions.
Trip - Falling in Love - Again
Trip was also required to remain at the ringside in order to rub down Brody between training 'rounds', and ensure that he was properly hydrated.
Kurt, of course, supervised the training sessions, but was following instructions from the 'Boss'.
Brody was a strong, athletic fighter, but in order to pull off the series of gambling 'scams' for which he had been hired, it was necessary to teach him how, as a 'face',  to sell his role to the audience so that the bets would gravitate to his opponent to win.
Brody Fights Naked During a Practice Bout
In professional wrestling, a face ('baby-face') is a heroic or a 'good guy' wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by audience. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience.
As the training continued, Tripp, who had never been given the 'role' of a 'second' before, became more and more enamoured of his handsome charge, who he watched avidly as Brody was taught be a 'jobber', and take his humiliating punishment, often ending up wrestling naked in the practice ring.
'Jobber' -  wrestler who routinely loses in order to build the credibility of other wrestlers.
When the practice bout ended Brody was left wearing only his white wrestling boots and knee protectors.
Brody held his skimpy white wrestling trunks that had been ripped from him during the session in his left hand, and later handed the trunks to Tripp.
As Brody stepped out of the practice ring, Kurt gave the naked, sweaty wrestler a 'high five' - signalling the fact that Kurt was pleased with the progress that Brody was making.
Brody's opponent, however, was still lying on the canvass, also butt-naked, moaning and clutching at his battered 'nuts'.
This, of course was Brody's only mistake in this session of bouts - he was injuring his opponents more than they were injuring him - and that was not expected of a 'jobber'.
What pleased Kurt, and surprised and fascinated Tripp, was the fact that Brody was still enormously aroused at the end of the session - unlike his opponent.
As Brody walked back to the locker-room, his huge, smooth 'dick', with it's bulging knob - the 'shaft'  set at a jaunty angle of about forty-five degrees, and dribbling a string of 'pre-cum', swayed stiffly from side to side with each step he took.
Tripp couldn't help but look - and wondered what might happen when the finally got back to the locker-room.

'Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß
Auf Liebe eingestellt,
Denn das ist 'meine Welt'
Und sonst gar nichts....
Das ist, was soll ich machen,
Meine Natur.
Ich kann halt lieben nur
Und sonst gar nichts....

Jungen umschwirr'n mich
Wie Motten um das Licht,
Und wenn sie verbrennen,
Ja, dafür kann ich nicht !

And yes, Tripp speaks German, and thinks in German.....
the name Tripp is originally a German name, and his father was German

The 'Boss', having parked Jim's startling unique convertible, took Jim and Max to St. Philip's Plaza.
The Plaza tries hard to be a little piece South-Western America - with a strong Mexican and Spanish aura.
St. Philip's Plaza
St. Philip's Plaza
There were some good shops, and good restaurants, but also many market stalls that sell what could only be described a 'tat' - but the 'Boss' wasn't bothered, as a nice quiet stroll was all he was really looking for.
The atmosphere, however, as in much of Tucson, reflected very much the 'old world' nostalgia that they had first encountered in the 'Arizona Inn' - a very different atmosphere to that to be found in much of Vegas, or Los Angeles.
Many of the streets and buildings were charming, built in  'Spanish-American' style.
What was surprising to someone like Jim, however, (having come from and old and established civilisation with a long history - stretching back into the Greek mythological past), was the obvious lack of history (that is real history) in America.
St. Philip's Plaza
The truly old history of the Americas was the history of the Native American Indians - but little remains of their heritage - as the 'settlers' (or should that be the invaders) from Europe did their best to destroy Native American history and culture.
The main group of Native Americans to have originally been found in the area around Tucson were the  'Hohokam' people - known for their vast irrigation canal systems, and their red-on-brown pottery.
In the late 1700s the Spanish Jesuits became active in the area, and Spanish culture became dominant, as can still be seen in much of the traditional architecture of Tucson.
In 1821 the area became independent  of Spain, and in 1848 Tucson was captured by the Mormons, although the Mexicans later took control.
In the mid 1800s, Tucson was part of the Confederacy - but subsequently Tucson (and Arizona) came under the control of the USA - and in 1912 Arizona became one of the united states of America.
Louis Vuitton - Encantada - Tuscon - Arizona
But the Spanish/ Mexican heritage remained, along with much cultural baggage derived from the defeated Confederacy.
In addition there was a continuing Mormon presence.
Now Tucson, even compared to Vegas, is hot - very hot, and so, after their leisurely stroll, and a quick look round Emporio Armani, the 'Boss' and the boys made their way back to where Jim's convertible was parked.
Unlike the Cadillac, there was little point in turning on the air conditioning, and the best thing to do was to get on the move, and enjoy the breeze, and so the 'Boss'  drove them to Encantada, where the 'Boss' knew there was a reasonable, (and modern), shopping centre on the romantically named 'East Skyline Drive'.
It was at Encantada that they found 'Louis Vuitton', and a good range of menswear and accessories - and not in a 'kitschy' Western style.
Emporio Armani - Tuscon - Arizona
After spending a long time looking round the shop the 'Boss' finally decided to buy something...but not for himself, of course.....
Jim had never seen the 'Boss' buy anything for himself - but Jim rationalised that as being because the 'Boss' probably had all the things that he could ever need.
Jim, however, felt that the 'Boss' had already bought him so many things that he, in his own limited way, really needed nothing more, but the 'Boss' insisted that 'you could never have too many shirts ties, shoes and suchlike'.

Levi Outlet - Tucson
Max, of course, was expecting nothing, and he had been amazed that the 'Boss' had bought him anything, and was equally amazed that the 'Boss' had paid for him to stay in all the fancy hotels, and have expensive meals - and all with no expectation of Max doing anything in return.
Regardless.... after the shopping at Louis Vuitton, the 'Boss' insisted that both Jim and Max should have some genuine, Western style Levi jeans.
Hacienda del Sol - Sunset - Tucson - Arizona

Then, once all the buying was over, the 'Boss' took them back to the convertible, and drove out to the 'Hacienda del Sol' - an hotel-cum-restaurant away from the main town.
A 'hacienda' in the colonies of the Spanish Empire, is an estate, similar in form to a Roman villa. Some haciendas were plantations, mines or factories. Many haciendas combined these activities. The word is derived from the Spanish word "hacer" or "haciendo", which means: 'to make or be making', respectively; and were largely business enterprises consisting of various money making ventures including raising farm animals and maintaining orchards.  In recent decades, the term has been used in the United States to refer to an architectural style associated with the earlier estate manor houses.
The sun was by then low in the sky, and was bathing the sierras in a beautiful reddish-purple glow.
The hacienda, true to its name, was built in Spanish style, in a relatively desolate area - but surrounded by exotic looking cacti.
They got out of the convertible, but then the 'Boss' opened the driver's door and beckoned to Jim.
"This look nice, and quiet - no other traffic, and nothing for you to hit - so why not have your first attempt at driving ?", the 'Boss' suggested, smiling.
"Well, OK, Sir... if you're sure..", Jim replied, hesitantly.
"It's easy Jim...
There's just two pedals - for the speed, and the brakes.", the 'Boss' indicated, as Jim made himself comfortable in the driving seat.
"And you just disengage the engine - which is at present in 'park' - 'P', and move it to 'drive'... and there you go..", the 'Boss' explained, seating himself next to Jim.
Max got in the rear seat, looking very nervous.
"If you get into trouble, set the gears... here... to 'neutral' - 'N' - and hit the brake, but gently.
Jim carefully followed the instructions that the 'Boss' had given him, and the large convertible slowly began moving.
Jim then drove in a circles round the empty bit of scrub in front of the hacienda.
"This is great.", Jim said, aware that this was the first time that the 'Boss' had actually taught him anything since he had arrived in this 'strange place, and strange land'.
"Well, I think that's enough for the moment.", the 'Boss' finally said, after Jim had made a few circuits around the Hacienda.

"When we get back to Vegas, I'll get Chuck to give you some more real lessons, and then Franklin will arrange for you to have a 'licence'.
Max noticed that the 'Boss' didn't mention a driving test.
Presumably the 'Boss' would dispense with such an inconvenience for Jim - his favourite.
They then got out of the parked auto - with Max looking very relieved, and made their way to the hacienda restaurant
The restaurant was elegant - candle lit, with fine furniture, and huge windows overlooking a nearby village, which was situated at the foot of a rugged sierra - and a more romantic spot it would be difficult to wish for.
As  they sat by the huge open windows, Jim's thoughts turned to Ethan.
The 'Boss' had forbidden any contact - either by mobile or e-mail, with Vegas for 'security' reasons, so Jim had no idea what was happening with the 'Penthouse Gang', or the 'California Combat Club'.
Little did Jim know that things between Ethan and Brody had cooled, and that now (at that very moment), Brody was turning to another attractive, blond boy - Tripp.
Having had his memories almost fully restored by Faunus, Jim had begun to realize that the connection between himself and Ethan ran very deep.
This undoubtedly explained the instant attraction between himself and Ethan on the evening that they first met at the 'Club Jaguar', in the infamous 'Room 33'.

In a previous 'place and time' (see 'The Story of Gracchus), Marcus had been the 'Dominus' of the Domus Gracchii (House of Gracchus).
Marcus had a favourite slave-boy, Aurarius, who for this new 'place, and time', Faunus had seemingly transformed into the 'all 'American boy' Ethan - but it was only after Faunus had restored Jim's (Marcus') memories, after the rescue from Area 51, that Jim had come to realize, fully, the true identity of the slightly 'zany', very sweet boy with the obsession about Pepsi Max and cheeseburgers.
Jim at that moment began to regret how 'close' he had come to Max - but of course, looking at the situation logically and coldly, Jim knew that Max was only a 'bellhop' and 'lift boy', and that a close and long lasting relationship with Max would probably not really be possible.
While dining at the 'Hacienda del Sol', Jim made the decision to end his intimate relationship with Max, once he had re-established his connection with Ethan - that is, if Ethan would accept him, and drop Brody.
Such a decision may seem to some readers to be cold and heartless, but it should be remembered that Jim's true origins were not to be found in the romanticized, and emotional tradition of the 'new world' he had found himself inhabiting, but rather in the far more stern and Stoic traditions of the Late Roman Republic and Early Empire.
Terentius
Zeno of Citium
Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. It was heavily influenced by certain teachings of Socrates. Stoicism is predominantly a philosophy of personal ethics informed by its system of logic. According to its teachings, as social beings, the path to happiness for humans is found in accepting the moment as it presents itself, by not allowing oneself to be controlled by the desire for pleasure or fear of pain, by using one’s mind to understand the world and to do one’s part in nature's plan. Terentius, one of Marcus' mentors, was a Stoic
Of course, Jim needn't have worried.
Brody - not the most thoughtful of young guys, was enjoying the help and assistance of Tripp at the California Combat Club - and Tripp was an easier 'companion' to cope with that Ethan.
Brody knew that there was something unsettling about Ethan - as there was with all the members of the 'Penthouse Gang'.
Brody would put up with that with regard to Zac, and the 'Boss' - as he they were making him an offer that he felt he simply couldn't refuse, but Ethan was only offering him occasional sex, whereas Kurt had put him in a situation which meant that he could have a continuing, and probably 'long-term' series of sexual encounters with the very amenable and very cute Tripp.
Jim, of course, didn't realize any of this, and as the ‘Boss’ talked enthusiastically about Jim and the driving lessons that he was planning when they returned to Vegas, Jim simply nodded, and agreed as thoughts of a possible future with Ethan swirled around in his head.
Finally, and thankfully for Jim, the meal came to an end, and both Jim and Max politely thanked the ‘Boss’ for a wonderful meal in a wonderful restaurant.
The three of them then returned to the parked convertible.
“Well, Jim - much as you would probably like to drive us back to the Arizona Inn, I think it would be a shame if you were stopped by the local sheriff, and ended up with a hefty fine, so I hope you’ll excuse me if I drive us back.”, the ‘Boss’ said as he climbed into the driving seat.
“Of course not, Sir…”, Jim replied, being carefully deferential.
“I don’t think a couple of circuits round a dusty car-park is enough for me to be driving on the Interstate.”
An so they spend off, back to the centre of Tucson.
“So tonight, Jim, Faunus tells me that you and Max are going to be using the telescope ?”, the ‘Boss’ queried.
“Yes… I hope so.”, Jim replied enthusiastically.
“So why don’t you join us ?”, Jim asked.
“Well, perhaps I should have told you before, but Faunus wants me to stay with ‘Nathan’, while he helps you with the telescope.”, the ‘Boss’ said, obviously embarrassed.

“And you know who ‘Nathan’ really is ?”, Jim suggested.
“Yes…. Faunus told me, but I guessed anyway - but I’d rather discuss this with you privately, if you don’t mind.”, the ‘Boss’ replied, trying as gently as possible to keep Max ‘out of the loop’.
“OK.. I understand, Sir… but I really would like to know what’s going on.” Jim said.
“Of course…. but 'what's going on' - as you put it, is all to the good - and very much to our advantage.” the ‘Boss’ said rather mysteriously.
By then they were arriving at the 'Arizona Inn', and the sun was setting.
As always (well almost always), the sky was clear, and it looked to be an excellent night for star-gazing.

Jim, Max and Faunus go out to the desert to test Jim's new telescope  - but get waylaid by a rather petulant character, (who they decide to call 'Roger'), who is posing as an ET - meanwhile, back in Vegas, Ethan has to come to terms with the fact that Brody has found a new boy - dangerous for Brody as Ethan has surprisingly, and very quickly, turned into a 'gun-slinger' - but not as dangerous as Brody's encounters are in the 'Combat Club' ring.....
