Unknown to the 'Boss' and the 'boys', the 'Men in Black' have been keeping watch, and are aware that much information has been given out about the 'Roswell Incident'. Also, and not surprisingly, the Aliens - who have already had one of their number 'abducted', are far from happy - and in their own 'confused' way are planning their revenge - but also are furthering their attempts to understand 'humans'...
It was getting late when they finally returned to the hotel.
Holiday Inn - Roswell - Night
The 'Boss' and Faunus immediately withdrew to to the suite used by the 'Boss' - presumably to review the recordings they had taken earlier.
Jim and Ethan were then left with Glen.
There was some time before the 'Boss' had determined that Glen should be in bed, (the 'Boss' had firm ideas about youngsters getting plenty of sleep), so Ethan and Jim decided to introduce Glen to Teddy.
Teddy was - hopefully - in Ethan's room - and he was - sitting obediently on Ethan's bed.
As they entered, Ethan and Jim were expecting a fond and emotional reunion.
In fact, quite the opposite occurred.
"Aren't you a bit old to be having a teddy-bear, Ethan ?", Glen asked - with a slightly sarcastic tone.
"But  he's yours, Glen... isn't he ?.....", Ethan said, bewildered.
"Oh no.....
I gave my teddy-bear away years ago.", Glen said.
"But Faunus said... well never mind.", Jim stuttered - thinking it easier not to try to explain.
Teddy blinked in surprise.
"Did that bear just blink at me ?",  Glen asked, obviously startled.
"Oh no - it was just the lights flickering... maybe we're in for a power outage...", Jim explained , while Ethan looked decidedly worried.
Jim gestured to Teddy to be quiet and stay still.
Teddy, who was a very perceptive bear, understood, and just sat on the bed like a very conventional stuffed toy.
"Well, shall I take you to your room, Glen ?
I think uncle Alex would like you to be in bed now.", Ethan said - trying to bring the awkward situation to a swift end.
"OK... but I was hoping I could stay with you guys for a while... I'm a bit nervous after all those stories about alien bodies,", Glen said.
"Don't be silly... you're a big boy now, and anyway Ethan and I are here, just one door away, so you're quite safe.", Jim said, reassuringly.
Glen then rather dejectedly left the room - leaving both Jim and Ethan puzzled.
"So what the fuck was that all about ?", Ethan asked.
"I really don't know.", Jim replied.
"Well, when Teddy arrived at the penthouse, he said very clearly that he was Glen's bear.....so the question is why ?", Ethan said, looking to Teddy.
"Well I don't know much about all of this, but Faunus told me that he had given Glen a set of memories about when he was young, and perhaps he forgot to include any memories about me, or perhaps he included a memory of Glen giving me away.", Teddy said carefully.
"That's really very clever, Teddy." Ethan said.
"Well I might just look like I'm stuffed with sawdust, but actually Faunus gave me a very god brain.", Teddy explained.
"I know, Teddy, and as you don't belong to Glen, then perhaps you might consider being my teddy ?", Ethan asked shyly.
"Well, if you two would prefer it, I could leave you together, after all I was going to go for a late night swim, if the pool's still open - and I could go on my own.", Jim said, with  a smile.
"Oh no, Jim.... let me come with you - it'll be like old times - remember, in the penthouse pool ?", Ethan said.
"So you just want me to sit here on the bed - again ?", Teddy said, somewhat grumpily.
"Not for long, Teddy... and when I come back you can sleep with me, in the bed.", Ethan said encouragingly.
So Teddy seemed satisfied, and sat himself down on one of the pillows (remember there were three), apparently quite prepared to wait.
"OK then Ethan.
I'll go and get my stuff, and I'll wait for you at reception... while you say your 'fond farewells' to your teddy.", Jim said, as he left the room.
"Don't worry, Teddy, he's just jealous.", Ethan said, as he looked for his Speedos, and a towel, in his as yet unpacked case.
On arriving at the indoor pool on the ground floor Jim and Ethan found the place deserted.
They quickly changed, and Jim dived in.
Coming up for air, Jim saw Ethan standing by the pool-side in his dark blue Speedos - and the sight stirred more than just Jim's memories.
At that point all thoughts of Max left him, and Jim decided that he would invite Ethan to his bed later that night.
Much as he would have wanted to have expressed his passion for his friend from so long ago there and then, in the pool, he realized that it was a public place, and he had no intention of allowing himself and Ethan to be caught unawares.
Jim splashed his way over to Ethan, put his arm round his handsome young friend and told him of his intention.
Ethan broadly smiled.
He had been waiting so long for such a promise, and so he could hardly wait to return to Jim's room.
It would, of course, have to be Jim's room, as Teddy was in Ethan's room, and Ethan would be shy of letting Teddy see him and Jim in an intimate embrace.
But it was not to be, at least on that night.
Upstairs, in Ethan's room, Teddy, who never slept, heard some strange noises coming from Glen's room.
Teddy carefully climbed off Ethan's bed, and walked over to the door.
By then there was noise in the corridor.
Now Teddy was not very tall, and by the time he had jumped up a few time to reach the door handle, and then put his head round the slightly open door, he was only able to see two dark figures hurrying to the elevators with a small figure, who he took to be Glen.
Now Teddy had to decide what to do.
It was important that he was not spotted, as he was only supposed to be a 'stuffed toy' - but he knew that he needed to do something.
He didn't know which room belonged to the 'Boss' - where he believed Faunus was - and Faunus was the person who he thought would be the most help in the current situation.
He did know that Jim and Ethan were down in the pool.
That meant he had only one option - he had to get down to the pool - and without being seen.
Teddy and the Elevator Buttons
(note - Teddy is left handed)
Now Teddy was not tall, because his legs were short, but regardless, he did his best to run down the corridor to where he thought the elevators or stairs would be.
And he was right.... but he needed to do a bit more jumping to hit the button in order to call the elevator.
Fortunately this was not a 'high class' hotel so, unlike the 'Club Jaguar', there would be no 'bell-hop' to 'freak out' at the sight of a teddy-bear wanting to use the elevator.
So Teddy got down to the ground floor (first floor ?), where the elevator doors fortunately opened round the corner from the reception desk - so no one saw him come out, and make his way to the pool.
Once at the pool Teddy quickly checked that no one, apart from Jim and Ethan were in the pool.
"Help !", Teddy blurted out.
"They've got Glen !",
Jim and Glen both looked to where Teddy was standing, shocked to see him.
Jim instantly realized what must have happened.
Immediately, climbing out of the pool, he called to Ethan.
"It's either the 'men in black' or the 'aliens' !", he shouted to Ethan.
"You go and get hold of Teddy, and stop him walking about, grab your clothes, and get yourself up to your room !".
Ethan instantly did what he was told, while Jim got his own clothes, and the pair of them, dripping wet, hurried to the elevator.
"Well done Teddy !", Jim said, patting the little bear on the head, as the elevator rapidity ascended.
"I did the right thing, Ethan ?", Teddy asked.
"Yes, Teddy.... you certainly did - and now all we have to do is get Glen back.", Ethan replied, as they got back to Ethan's room.
There they quickly dried off and dressed, and then hurried to the suite used by the 'Boss'.
After Jim had buzzed, Faunus opened the door.
He looked surprised when he saw Jim, with Ethan clutching an obviously excited Teddy.
"Faunus ! They've got Glen !", Teddy blurted, as they hurriedly entered the suite.
"What's wrong with him ?", Faunus asked, while the 'Boss' looked on, apparently not entirely surprised.
"I left him in my room, while Jim and I went for a swim, and while we were gone, Teddy here heard some noises, and saw some guys apparently  taking Glen away.
So he bravely came down to the pool to tell us - and now we're telling you.", Ethan explained.
"Just as well he wasn't seen wandering about...", the 'Boss' commented.
"Well yes, but that's neither here nor there, Sir... the point is, Glen's gone.", Jim said.
"Yes, I appreciate that, Jim", the 'Boss' said, trying to calm things down.
"Now Teddy, were these people who took Glen humans, like us, wearing dark suites, or little guys - all pale and grey.", the 'Boss' asked.
"They were like you - not little ones.", Teddy replied.
"So guys, I suggest that you get going, and as quickly as possible - but the question seems to be - to me - where do you start ?", 'Boss' said.
"Well, my suggestion is that we go to Corona - to the crash site - or at least in that area.
The appearance of these 'aliens'  and  'men in black' - seems to be connected with our researches in the Roswell Museum, so perhaps they may be hanging around near there.
That area obviously seems to have had some significance for them in '47, so perhaps that's still the case.”, Faunus suggested.
"OK - but I'll stay here, partly because Glen might turn up here again, but also because I have no experience of dealing with these creatures - and I may well only just 'get in the way'...
Well, good luck, boys - and stay in touch by 'cell-phone'...", the 'Boss' said, as they hurriedly left his suite.
"And how are we going to get to this Corona place ?", Ethan asked, as made their way down the corridor.
"In my Edsel..", Faunus replied.
"Shouldn't we go to our rooms to get some warm clothes, and leave Teddy in Ethan's room ?", Jim suggested.
"Good idea, but we should take Teddy with us.", Faunus said.
"Why's that ?", Jim asked, as Teddy looked obviously alarmed.
"Because if these are aliens who have got Glen, then they can 'switch off' humans - and that means you two.", Faunus said.
"What ? - You mean kill us ?", Ethan said.
"No, Ethan...
It's just like when you 'pause' a DVD - and everything stops.
That's usually how they abduct people.", Faunus explained.
"But if I take some of my guns, I can 'switch them off' - permanently, by killing them.", Ethan said.
"Not a good idea, Ethan."
Usually bullets just bounce off them, and you don't want to get them annoyed, do you ?", Faunus replied.
"Well I'll still take my Colt, just in case.", Ethan insisted.
"OK.", Faunus said reluctantly,
"But just be careful."
Having got themselves properly dressed and equipped, the boys took the elevator down to the ground floor, with Ethan, who was rather embarrassed, clutching a very nervous bear.
"It's a good thing you don't use the toilet....", Ethan said to Teddy
Faunus' ridiculous pink and white Edsel (called 'Douglas') was waiting in the car-park, and soon they were on their way.

The journey to Corona was almost a straight drive, and they met little traffic on the way.
Arrival at Corona
Corona is a 'one-horse town' (a village actually) in New Mexico, where there was an alleged UFO crash in 1947 - later the incident was always referred to as the 'Roswell Crash' (much to the disgust of the residents of Corona) simply because Roswell is the nearest large town (called a 'city' by the inhabitants).... The building in the picture is in fact 'officially' known as 'Corona Village Hall'....
On arriving in Corona they parked outside the 'Village Hall'.
On getting out of the Edsel, the first thing that they noticed was that it was so very, very quiet.
The lights in the village Hall were on, however, so Jim knocked on the door.
There was no reply, though, and no sound from inside the building.
"Weird.... so what do we do now ?", Ethan asked.
"Back to the Edsel, and let's look at the map on the laptop.
It'll show us the approximate position of the crash site.", Faunus said.
So they looked, and then Faunus started driving slowly, while they all scanned very carefully the surrounding landscape.
It was Teddy who first spotted something odd, as he had special 'high definition' eyes, which were much more accurate than ordinary human eyes, (more like the eyes that Glaux had) - and also he could see in infrared and ultraviolet - but only when he wanted to - like there, out on the scrub-land, at night in Corona)
"There's something glowing faintly over there...", Teddy said quietly, as he pointed with his stubby, fluffy paw.
So Faunus gradually brought the Edsel to a halt.
"Now I think we should walk...", Faunus said.
"Can I stay here ?", Teddy asked nervously.
"No Teddy, and you know why.... we might need you."
Jim and Ethan looked at one another, wondering what Faunus was talking about.
Regardless, they all got out of the Edsel, and they started walking - vaguely in the direction to which Teddy had pointed and, as the walked, a shape began to materializes, a few hundred meters away from them.
In the beginning the shape was ill-defined, like a bluish cloud, but then it began to take on some detail.
UFO at Corona - New Mexico
"Fuck !... it's one of those UFO thingys !", Ethan said.
"So now what ?", Jim said.
"We wait for them to invite us in.", Faunus said.
"Is it really a good idea to do that ?....I mean to go in.... after all they may not let us out again.", Ethan said.
"Don't worry, Ethan, I think they'll be quite pleased to let us go.", Faunus said.
As they were speaking and walking towards the glowing UFO, the alien craft slowly began to descend, and eventually it settled on the ground with an audible crunch.
What was strange, however, was that there was no sound of any power source - the vehicle had maneuvered noiselessly.
"Well ?", Jim said, wondering what was going to happen next.
He didn't have long to wait.
Silently the outline of a rectangular door appeared at the base of the saucer.
At first it was just formed of a thin sliver of white light, outlining the shape.
Moments later, what was now obviously a door, silently slid open vertically, emitting a bright shaft of light across the ground.
"Oh dear... I really should have used the bathroom before I come on this little trip !",Ethan said, as he held on tightly onto Teddy.
For what seemed like a very long time.... nothing happened.
The only sound to be heard was a distant rumble of thunder, and Teddy squeaking.....
"Stop squashing me, Ethan".
"Sorry Teddy...  I'm just holding you tight so you won't be frightened.", Ethan whispered.
"Yes.... well I believe you...", Teddy said, equally quietly.
The UFO Lands at Corona - New Mexico
At that moment an alien figure appeared in the doorway.
(it was obviously alien as it looked the same as the alien they had seen in Arizona, talking to the Edsel, but this one was taller, with a more commanding presence.)
Faunus watched impassively, while Jim, who was by then very  nervous, stood next to Faunus.
Ethan, however, although he was very scared, simply could not let the moment pass.
He then sat a very startled teddy-bear on the ground, and emboldened by the extra height that his new snake-skin cow-boy boots gave him, he put both hands on his hips, pulled back his shoulders, stuck out his chest, and said those truly immortal words.
"Take me to your leader !".
Faunus grinned, and Jim simply couldn't believe that Ethan had had the guts to do it.
"I am the 'leader', the skinny figure replied, in a rather high pitched voice that didn't seem at all menacing.
"Oh, I see...", Ethan said, wondering what to do next.
"Tell me, who are the people with you. ?", the 'leader' asked.
"Well, this is Teddy.", Ethan explained, pointing to Teddy who had by then got to his feet, and was trying to look as tall and as imposing as possible - which for him was quite difficult, as he was intended to be cute and cuddly.
"And behind me, the dark-haired guy is Faunus, and the fair haired handsome guy is Jim.
And I'm Ethan - also fair haired, and handsome.", Ethan concluded, trying to smile at his weak attempt to be amusing.
"And what are your real names, gentlemen ?"
"And what are your real names, gentlemen.... and what are you.... truly ?", the leader said, with just a hint of menace in his 'sweet' voice.
"Well, as I said, I'm Ethan - a teenage human - you know what humans are, I think - and Teddy is a teddy-bear... like a 'pet' for humans, (Teddy looked annoyed, but said nothing), Jim is just Jim, just another teenage human, and Faunus is Faunus, yet another teenage human.", Ethan explained nervously.
"I think not....", the leader said.
"Many of us are telepaths....
"Tele-whats-its ...?", Ethan interrupted.
"Telepaths, Ethan, and let our friend here continue explaining." Faunus said.
"Yes... thank you.", the 'alien-leader' said politely.
"Telepaths - from the Greek language, τῆλε πάθος but 'Ethan', you should understand that, being Greek... and as you will know, it means that we can read your minds, and scan your memories.", the leader explained.
Ethan gulped.
"Oh.... that could be a bit awkward....", Ethan said, obviously worried, and noticing that the 'alien leader seemed to know that he, (Ethan), was originally Greek.
Telepath (from the Greek τῆλε, tele meaning "distant", and πάθος, pathos or -patheia, meaning 'feeling, perception, passion, affliction, experience'), is the ability to transmit information from one person to another without using any known human sensory channels or physical interaction. The term was first used in 1882 by the classical scholar Frederic W. H. Myers, a founder of the 'Society for Psychical Research', and has remained more popular than the earlier expression 'thought-transference'.
"Well, if I may interrupt, we have come to see you in order to recover our friend, Glen - who some people took from our hotel - and I think he was brought here.", Faunus said, trying to be very polite.
"You mean the young Earth boy ?", the leader said.
"Yes.", Faunus replied.
"In that case you had better come in and see him - that is if he is the Earth boy you are talking about.
"Good....", Faunus said, pausing.
"But if we come in, you must guarantee that you will allow us to leave when we want to, and with our friend Glen."
"Of course....you see I know what you are, and we would not risk causing you any problems.", the leader replied, being strangely submissive.
"And I also expect no problems for any of my friends, including our 'pet', Teddy.", Faunus added.
"Of course... and may I say we have long wanted to speak with someone of you stature, and of your knowledge about certain delicate matters which vex us greatly.", the leader said, gesturing for them all to enter the 'spacecraft'.
"I really don't like this...", Ethan said quietly to Jim.
"Ethan, you are with a very 'special being', and so you are quite safe, and our honoured guest.", the leader said, not hearing what Ethan had said, but rather reading his thoughts, and sensing his anxiety.
"So ... who is this 'special being' ?", Ethan asked foolishly.
"Faunus, of course ... you dummy... and be careful what you think...", Jim said as they stepped through the hatchway.
So they entered the - what shall we call it ? UFO, Flying Saucer, Spaceship....
"Nice place you've got here... but a bit cold... good 'air-con' though ?", Ethan said, talking nonsense in an attempt to control his anxiety.
He had picked up Teddy, and was holding him close.
Strangely, Teddy seemed the only 'normal' thing in the weird 'adventure'.
"If the earth boys called Ethan and Jim, and the earth 'pet' (the 'leader' meant Teddy, but didn't really understand what the word 'pet' meant), could go with one of our junior crew members, who will show them round the ship, perhaps we could spend some time in discussion ?", the 'alien leader' said to Faunus.
"Yes, that's fine, but could we see our friend - Glen - first ?", Faunus asked.
"Of course... do you want the others to see him, or just yourself ?", the 'leader' asked.
"Well they are very worried about him, so I think they would be reassured by seeing him.", Faunus replied.
"Very worried ?", the 'leader mused.
"We do not really understand this, but as you will see, this question of 'emotional thinking' is an issue that we need to discuss...
"So I will take you all to where he is being treated.", the 'leader' said......
One thing that was very strange about the spacecraft was the lack of noise.
The vehicle was on the ground, so the lack of engine noise was understandable, but their was no conversation - (the 'alien leader' and Faunus communicated telepathically, as did all the rest of the 'crew'), and the crew themselves, moved lightly and elegantly, as if they were almost weightless - so the lack of noise would seem very unnatural and unnerving for anyone from earth.
"The 'alien leader' gave no spoken order, but in moments the alien who had been allocated to look after Jim, Ethan and Teddy returned with all three.
"The 'alien leader' has told me that we can now go and see Glen.", Faunus told the 'Boys' and Teddy.
"Well about time.", Ethan said.
The leader then beckoned for them all to follow him.
They went down a short corridor, and a sliding door opened to their left, which led into a large chamber.
Glen in the UFO
"Oh shit !... what are you doing to him ?", Ethan blurted out when he caught sight of Glen.
"We are simply returning him to his original physical form, and wiping out the previous memories that have been programmed into his brain, along with other memories he has acquired during his short period as a human.", the 'leader' explained.
Those memories we shall analyse.
"So, you're killing Glen.... is what you really mean.", Jim said angrily.
"And I suppose when you've turned him back into an 'alien', you'll just abandon him in the desert again - like you did before ?", Ethan suggested.
"We had to.... he was defective.", the 'leader' said - not being entirely truthful.
At that point Teddy, who had been standing next to Ethan, fixed his eyes on the 'leader'.
Two beams of blue light then emerged from Teddy's eyes, and the leader held up a hand, to seemingly protect himself, but began to move in slow motion, and then 'froze'.
Teddy then looked round, and projected the same beams at all the other aliens who were standing around in that part of the space-ship - and they all froze.
"Now Teddy.... I didn't tell you to do that....", Faunus said, in mock anger.
"No Faunus, but that 'leader' made me very angry... I'm sorry.", Teddy replied.
"What the fuck did you do, Teddy ?", Ethan exclaimed.
"I 'switched them off'.", Teddy replied.
"It's something that I'm programmed to do.", Teddy went on to explain.
"Cool...!", Ethan said, obviously impressed.
"Cool maybe, but switch the 'leader' back on so I can sort this business out.", Faunus said.
Interestingly, some of the 'aliens' hadn't been 'frozen' (switched off) by Teddy, but they were all just standing around, doing nothing, apparently unable to function without any telepathic instructions from the 'leader'.
"Well, it seems they're all sort of 'short-circuited', so why don't we just release Glen and get out of here.?
I don't think they're going to try to stop us.", Jim suggested.
"Well there are a number of reasons why that's not the best thing to do, Jim.", Faunus began.
"First, if we remove him from that machine, it will probably kill Glen.
Secondly, I want to come to an agreement with the leader that will enable me to 'reconstruct' Glen as a human...
and also, I want to try to talk to this 'leader', and find out what they really want - what they are trying to do, and then come to some 'accommodation' with them so that we have no more problems with them."
Ethan shook his head.
"Well I think Teddy should just 'switch them all off'... permanently !", Ethan said.
"Sounds good, Ethan, but I'm afraid I must agree with Faunus.... mainly because I think there are lots more of them - who knows where - and if we eliminate this little group, others will come after us, and we'll never be free of them.", Jim said.
"Yes, I suppose you're right Jim... but I'm getting really mad about what they're doing to Glen.", Ethan said, sounding dejected.
So Teddy switched the 'leader' back on - along with the other 'aliens'.
What surprised Jim and Ethan was the fact that the 'leader', (and the other 'aliens'), didn't seem to be aware that they had been 'switched off'.
"So... I want to reverse the process that you have started with regard to the 'earth boy', and then we can discuss these matters that are of so much concern to yourselves.", Faunus stated (out loud, so that Jim and Ethan would know what was going on).
"And how will you reverse the process ?", the 'leader asked.
"Quite simply, but I need a private compartment.", Faunus explained
And so a 'private compartment' and provided, while a number of 'aliens' carefully removed Glen from the machine to which he had been strapped, and carried him into the compartment where Faunus was waiting for him.

No one knew what Faunus did in that compartment to Glen, who appeared to be practically comatose.
Minutes passed, as Jim, Ethan, Teddy and the 'alien leader' waited.
Finally Faunus emerged, and behind him a young man in a white smock.
The boys all stared in disbelief - and so did Teddy and the 'alien leader'.
"Who the fuck is that ?", Ethan said.
"This... is Glen.
Glen
I was not able to restore him to his previous appearance, and as you can see, the experience he has undergone recently has aged him a little - and also his mind has been wiped of all memories - so that must attended to when we get him back to Roswell.", Faunus explained, a little apologetically.
"Well I think I'm going to like him...", Teddy said.
"Yes...", Ethan said reflectively.
"He is rather cute. "
The 'alien leader' stepped up, and looked deep into the young man's eyes - presumably scanning his memory.
"Completely blank.", he said.
"Who... are you ?", Glen asked in an expressionless monotone
Apparently he could still speak English.
"We're your friends - well all except this guy -" Ethan said, pointing to the 'alien leader', "he's - well like the 'manager' of this place.", Ethan replied, giving one of his amazing, broad grins.
"I see.", Glen replied - with no feeling - and possibly little understanding.
"And I'm your teddy...", Teddy said brightly, hoping to 'get in' right from the start.
"So what now ?... Do we get back to Roswell ?", Ethan asked Faunus.
"No.... I'm afraid not.
First I have to spend some time with this 'alien leader', trying to find out what these 'aliens' are really up to.
Meanwhile, get one of the other aliens to show you round the ship, and see if you can get any information out of them.... and also tell Glen a little about yourselves.", Faunus suggested.
And don't say anything stupid, Ethan.
These 'aliens' have no sense of humor.... so just leave the talking to Jim."
Ethan knew that what Faunus was saying made sense, so he just nodded.

Faunus went off with the 'alien leader' to what seemed to be a private section of the main control area.
Now the 'conversation' between Faunus and the 'alien leader' was essentially telepathic, so it is best to report it as a 'paraphrase'.

Hybrid Clones
The 'alien leader' indicated that alien greys are 'clones' - originally created as a kind of 'slave race'.
As far as the 'alien leader' was aware they had lost all knowledge of their original creators, and now their DNA was deteriorating.
Many organisms reproduce by cloning. Cloning is the process of producing genetically identical individuals of an organism either naturally or artificially. In nature, many organisms produce clones through 'asexual' reproduction. Cloning in biotechnology refers to the process of creating clones of organisms or copies of cells or DNA fragments (molecular cloning). Cloning is a natural form of reproduction that has allowed life forms to spread for hundreds of millions of years. It is the reproduction method used by plants, fungi, and bacteria, and is also the way that clonal colonies reproduce themselves.
The 'alien leader continued to explain that originally they had come from a genetic stock that was closely related to humans, and for that reason they were attempting to add aspects of human DNA to their own DNA, and this was the main reason for their frequent appearances on earth, and their strategy of 'abducting' humans and utilizing their ova and their sperm.
As clones, the greys were created as non-sexual beings, (they had no genitals) and this had been done mainly with the intention of controlling the rate and quality of their reproduction.
This was largely successful, although one of its unforeseen results was the gradual deterioration of their DNA.
Through studying the humans they came in contact with, they had also come to realize that the absence of any physical sexuality had had a negative effect on their emotional development, as they had discovered that sexuality was in many ways the foundation of emotional responses.
This meant that not only were they unable to generate any aggressive or dominating emotions, but in addition they had no capacity for love or affection.
Equally they also lacked ambition and drive.
A solution to these, and other problems relating to emotionality, would be to create a hybrid race with a sexual nature, but they did not want to take such a path until they had thoroughly studied the implication of such emotional responses, and the best way for them to do this would be to study humans.
'Roger'
At that point in the 'alien leader's' explanation he had admitted that the appearance of 'Roger' in Arizona was a 'plant' - which Faunus had already guessed.
What surprised Faunus, however, was the connection between the aliens and Dr Brandt at Area 51.
Faunus had long been aware of rumors of connections between aliens and Area 51 - and this was then confirmed by the 'alien leader'.
The aliens, it seemed, were interested in Dr. Brandt because of his research into 'time travel' - rather than anything to do with cloning.
An important project that the aliens were perusing, the 'alien leader' explained, was that of discovering more about the beings that had originally created them as a 'slave-race'.
As this had happened in some other time period, one solution to this question was to travel in time, and discover what had actually happened - and maybe even alter events in order to prevent the problems that were now causing the deterioration of their DNA, and their lack of emotional responses.
Area 51 - Nevada
'Roger' was simply a means of finding out more about the suspected 'time travelers' - Jim and his companions - that Brand seemed to have identified.
When it was discovered that these potential 'time travellers' were a group of young men, then there was the added incentive of learning more from them with regard to the nature of human sexuality.
What went wrong, of course, was that 'Roger' was transformed into a human (by Faunus) - with no recollection of his 'alien' origins - and so was not reporting back (telepathically)  to the 'alien leader'.
For this reason 'Roger' (or more correctly Glen) was recovered, in the hope that such action would encourage a meeting between the aliens and Faunus and the 'boys'.
This had now happened, and the aliens had been very surprised with regard to Faunus (and Teddy for that matter) as neither were actually 'humans'.
More importantly, Faunus struck the 'aliens' as being possibly of the same 'race' as their original creators - and so he could perhaps help them in their quest to solve both their biological and emotional problems.
For the interim, however, the 'alien leader' wanted to use Glen as a subject for further continuing study as he interacted with normal human society.
(the 'alien leader' had the strange idea that 'alternative America' was a 'normal'  human society)
There followed some delicate negotiations, and eventually a satisfactory working agreement between Faunus and the 'alien leader' was was concluded.

Faunus then had the 'alien leader' gather Jim, Ethan with Teddy, and of course Glen together so that they could prepare to leave the space craft, and return to Roswell.
"So what's happening ?", Jim asked.
"Well, I think we have a reasonable agreement with our 'friends' here.", Faunus began.
"We get Glen for keeps - well the new version of Glen, which is the best that I can do after what has happened to him - and I can provide him with memories of whatever we think will be suitable - but that needs to be discussed and agreed with the 'Boss'.
The aliens will have an on-going project using Glen to monitor his emotional responses, but will not interfere in any way with his behaviour or thoughts, and in this way they will gather data regarding human emotions for their genetic engineering program.
They will occasionally contact us in order to clarify any aspects of Glen's progress with which they have any problems.", Faunus explained.
"Well that's OK, as long as they don't watch us like 'pervy' voyeurs.", Ethan said.
"That shouldn't be a problem, but you must understand that as far as humans are concerned, theses guys are 'aliens', and think very differently from humans.
As far as sex goes, they have no experience of it, and understandably they are fascinated by human sexuality - but in this case their interest is mainly scientific - for their genetic project.", Faunus explained.
"Well I hope you're right...", Ethan replied, not entirely convinced.
"Don't worry about it, Ethan... I'm a telepath, so I can check on what they're doing.", Teddy said in his clam, reassuring voice.
"Is there anything you can't do, Teddy ?", Ethan asked - with a touch of sarcasm.
"I can't fly....",Teddy said.
"Oh, so we can't call you 'Super-Ted'.", Ethan said, giggling.
The humour was completely lost on Teddy.
"So let's say goodbye to the 'alien leader', and get back to our trusty Edsel.", Faunus said.

The Highway Back to Roswell
It wasn't a long trip, but Jim and Ethan felt uneasy sitting in the Edsel with 'Glen'.
Jim sat next to Faunus, in the front - (Faunus was driving).
Ethan was in the back, sitting next to Teddy, who was cuddling up to 'Glen'.
"It's no use, Teddy, he doesn't know who the fuck you are.", Ethan said, rather callously.
"Yes, you're probably right....", Teddy replied...
"And please moderate you language... I don't want Glen picking it up.", Teddy added.
"Teddy...", Ethan began emphatically.
"Glen doesn't belong to you... and you are my teddy-bear, remember ?".
Teddy nodded, and stopped trying to ingratiate himself with Glen.
"So, Jim.... did you get any information from any of the other aliens when you were looking round the ship ?", Faunus asked.
"No.... nothing.
I think they're all like 'worker-ants', or 'worker-bees' - just mindless clones.
I think the only one who has any idea what's really going on is that 'leader' guy who you were dealing with."
"Yes Jim... that's what I thought.", Faunus replied.
"So what are we going to do about this new version of Glen ?", Jim asked.
"That's partly up to the 'Boss'.
I think he'll want a slight change of approach.
Fortunately Glen was never in 'Vegas, so no one, apart from Chuck, knows anything about him... and Chuck, of course, can be trusted completely....
The 'Boss' was not very keen on having a 'nephew' - and all that 'uncle Alex'  business - and as only Max knows about that, I think we can sort that out without anyone else knowing.
It was a mistake on my part....
Much too complicated, with a spurious 'brother' for the 'Boss', and all that it would involve, and the military academy...  so the best thing to do is to keep it simple.
I think the easiest thing is to have a situation where Glen is just a young guy we picked up on our travels in the South West, who wants to get started in 'Vegas - and the 'Boss' is prepared to help him...
Easy and simple.", Faunus said as they came into the outskirts of Roswell.
"Sounds good to me...", Ethan said, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation between Jim and Faunus.
And so Faunus parked the Edsel, and then Faunus, and Glen, and the 'boys', with Ethan diplomatically carrying Teddy, entered the Hotel.
No one noticed that Glen, (the boy they may have seen earlier), had aged maybe five or more years - which was just as well.
Ethan and Jim took Glen up to Ethan's room, while Faunus went to see the 'Boss' in order to explain what had been happening.
As it turned out, the 'Boss' was intrigued with the situation, and regretted that had not had an opportunity to meet the 'alien leader', or see the UFO.
He seemed quite happy that he no longer had a 'nephew', as he had not relished the role of being an 'uncle', and was not at ease with what he looked upon as 'children'.
A young man in his late teens, even if he was  purportedly a vagrant, he could cope with - after all he had found no real problems with Zac, Ethan and Jim.
As for Teddy, he was prepared to put up with the strange little animated stuffed 'toy' if it kept Ethan, (of whom he was very fond), happy.
So, with the approval of the 'Boss', Faunus would spend the night programming Glen, while the 'Boss' looked forward to meeting his new 'ward' - or might that be 'associate' or 'employee'.

After returning to the hotel in Roswell, Glen is partially re-programmed by Faunus.
All goes well, and the 'Boss', who is more that satisfied with the new Glen, having completed his researches in Roswell, decides to continue the road-trip by taking the straight highway to Amarillo in Texas, as they travel eastwards. On arriving in Amarillo, Glen has repeated dreams about a strange 'butte' which he believes is in either Texas, or a nearby state. It is eventually identified as the 'Devils Mount', and as the dream might be some form of communication from the 'alien leader', the 'Boss' decides to visit the site, which is - of course - in Wyoming.
