After an excellent evening meal, provided by Murad - the new Chef de Cuisine at the Winter Palace, everyone returned to the Victorian Lounge to hear the conclusion of Novius' talk, and then to ask any relevant questions - and surprise were awaiting them.
Murad |
"So... I think Novius is waiting for us in the Victorian Lounge...", Jim announced, as he noticed that Novius' place was empty.
And so the talk, given by Novius continued.
Once everyone was settled, Novius began speaking...
"Now if I remember rightly, I had been explaining about Crowley, and later Parsons, opening a 'portal' in California, near the Mount Palomar Observatory.
Now this is a fact that is often missed - that around the same time that Parsons widened that 'portal', sightings of UFOs became commonplace - and more importantly so did 'contacts' with those who purportedly flew those craft.
Novius |
Crowley, however, some considerable time before Adamski and the others, had an very different interaction with a 'being' that he called 'Lam', who was physically almost identical to the later encountered 'Greys'.
Crowley maintained that 'Lam' is a class of 'entity' rather than an individual, having a very cold, mechanical, 'computer-like' intelligence.
It’s what is perceived as artificial because it is not incarnated, and it never has ben incarnated in a human sense, so it doesn’t have empathy, or relate to humans.
This is the lack of emotion that I believe that some of you encountered in your contact with similar 'beings'.
However, having no emotions themselves, the are, perhaps understandably drawn to, and fascinated by human emotionality, particularly of a violent or sexual nature.
But before we go into any possible connections between Crowley and the 'Greys', I would like to say a few more words about the suggested links between 'aliens' and ancient Egypt.
Paul Brunton |
Schwaller de Lubicz, Madame Blavatsky in 'Isis Unveiled', the early 'Egyptologists', and Paul Brunton never mentioned 'aliens' in their writings... but after Crowley, 'aliens' became an issue.
In his book, 'Search in Secret Egypt', written in 1935, philosopher Paul Brunton (1898-1981) encounters the mysteries and magic of Egypt in the 1930s, including an eerie yet illuminating night spent alone inside the Great Pyramid. Alongside his explorations of ancient Egypt's monuments and gods, Brunton encounters a variety of occultists, fakirs, and dervishes. Brunton's journey to discover the furthest reaches of what the mind and body are capable of - and to distinguish various forms of magic from true spirituality - lead him to the myth of Osiris, and to the mystery that is the Sphinx itself. In the end, Brunton turns his attention to his own spiritual path, connecting all of his experiences into a single discovery: that we are more than the body and that the freedom of our spirit can be experienced here and now. Brunton is now seen as a leading precursor of the 'New Egyptology'.
And this continued with the rise of what came to be known as 'Alternative Egyptology', and the 'Ancient Astronaut Theory'.
In addition, there was the matter of 'channelling', which was an offshoot of the 'Spiritualist Movement' which began in the 19th Century - although there had been examples of channelling from earliest times.
And in case you are not familiar with 'channelling', it is the belief that communication of information can occur from a deity, spirit or other paranormal entity, including 'aliens' to an individual through telepathic means
'Channelling' |
This idea of 'channelling' relies on the belief that non-human entities exist, and are capable of communicating with human beings.
'Alternative, or New Egyptology' is the theory that 'professional Egyptologists' haven't got it right with regard to many, or even most of their beliefs about ancient Egyptian history, and culture, and that there are 'alternative' theories that are in many ways more plausible.
The 'Ancient Astronaut Theory' is in many ways even more extreme, and maintains that Egyptian culture developed as a result of the involvement of 'aliens', who are usually presented as the 'gods' of ancient Egypt.
Such views, however, are quite a recent development, but are surprisingly popular with the general public, and have spawned numerous best-selling books.
Many of these developments, however have been encouraged by the means of 'channelling' , which is, to say the least, a somewhat unreliable method of obtaining information.
Of course, Crowley's 'Book of the Law' was channelled, as was his contact with 'Lam'.
"But returning to 'orthodox Egyptology', little of real significance has been found in Egypt since the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter in 1922 - with the exception of a 'door' in one of the shafts in the 'Great Pyramid' - which, for some inexplicable reason has never been properly opened - despite the fact that the technology exists to undertake such work.
The shaft containing the door was explored by a small robotic device, designed and operated by a German technician by the name of Gantenbrink.
Strangely enough, the robot was called 'Upuaut' - not particularly inventive or imaginative - and I think you all know by now that the name means 'opener of the ways'.
Gizeh Plateau |
But as there was no real development in 'orthodox Egyptology' - the 'unorthodox' theories and activities continued to proliferate.
Some of the important players on the Gizeh Plateau with connection to the 'Ancient Astronaut Theory', and also channelling, were becoming active.
One of those 'player', according to Teddy, has a permanent suite in the hotel, here in Luxor, where some of you recently stayed - the Steigenberger....".
"And that, I suppose, was this 'Hawass dude'...", Ethan interupted.
"Yes, Ethan - Zahi Hawass seems to stand between 'orthodox Egyptology', the 'Ancient Astronaut Theory' and the 'Channellers' - shifting his ground whenever - many would suggest - it is to his financial advantage.
Now one of the interesting things about Hawass is the fact that he was trained as an archaeologist and 'Egyptologist' in America, at the expense of the Cayce Foundation.
Jim and Ethan, of course know all about this - as Teddy explained it to them.
They also know about Edgar Cayce - an American, now dead, who channelled a lot of information - most of it unverifiable - about the earliest history of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
Mark Lehner |
At the time when Hawass became a rising force in Egyptology, he was joined by an American, also trained as an archaeologist and Egyptologist in America, at the expense of the Cayce Foundation.
This was Mark Lehner, who was far more committed to the view of Ancient Egypt promoted by the Association for Research and Enlightenment."
The 'Association for Research and Enlightenment' (A.R.E.), also known as 'Edgar Cayce's A.R.E.', was founded by Edgar Cayce in 1931 to research and explore subjects such as holistic health, ancient mysteries, personal spirituality, dreams and dream interpretation, intuition, philosophy and reincarnation. A.R.E.'s stated mission is to help people change their lives for the better through the ideas and information found in the Edgar Cayce readings. Its international headquarters is in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with a regional office in Houston, Texas. A.R.E. runs conferences, publishes books relating to Edgar Cayce and his teachings under the imprints of 'A.R.E. Press' and '4th Dimension Press'. The A.R.E. also publishes a quarterly member magazine, 'Venture Inward'. The organisation has often been described as a 'pseudo religion', and there have also been rumoured links with government intelligence agencies in the US, and other countries.
Association for Research and Enlightenment - HQ - Virginia Beach - USA |
Ethan then quickly interupted - remembering that he was part of the security team'.
"Sorry to break in, Novius, but I would like to say that Jim and Faunus have made it clear that if any of you meet up with either of these 'dudes' - that's Lehner or Hawass - you should not speak to either of them, and tell Jim, Faunus, Zac or any of our security people straight away.", Ethan said as Zac looked pleased.
"Well thank you Ethan - I think that's good advice.", Novius said, before continuing.
"So why are we so worried about making contacts with people like archaeologists, and people like that who study ancient Egypt ?
Maybe they can give us some useful information....", Brody suggested.
At that point Jim decided to make a comment.
"Well, I can understand why you might say that, but one point I think you should consider is the fact that we probably have with us a real ancient Egyptian...", Jim said.
"And you really believe that ?", Brody asked, obviously indicating that he didn't believe it.
"Now we do have a little evidence that might lead us to think that.", Novius began.
"Earlier today I showed young Ashraf some hieroglyphics.
I didn't tell him where they were from, how old they were, or what they were about.
It was a long shot, because not very many ordinary ancient Egyptians could read hieroglyphics - which were mainly for the upper classes and the priests.
But I asked him if he had ever been taught hieroglyphics, back in the time when he was an ancient Egyptian slave-boy....
Egyptian Hieroglyphics |
He said his 'master', who I suspected was a priest... had taught him, and Teddy here has a graphic that he had made of some hieroglyphics."
And then Novius held up the graphic, that Ethan had taken from Teddy's Walmart bag.
"Now there are only two people in our group who can read these hieroglyphics - and that's Faunus and Teddy.", Novius said.
"You mean you can't read them ?", Max asked, sounding surprised.
"No... Teddy does all the translating for me.
I can only read Greek, Latin and Oscan - and of course English.", Novius replied.
"So what does it say ?", Brody asked - sensing a possible trick.
"It says....
'O Exalted-one ! - may he be praised, Great of Manifestations, the great Ba whom the gods fear, and who appears on his great throne, make the path of the Ba, the Akh, and the Shadow, for I am equipped so that I might shine therein as an equipped-one. Make for me the path to the place in which Re, Atum, Khepri, and Hathor are therein.'", Teddy said, pointing with his paw to each word as he translated it.
"And this Ashraf... could he read it ?", Brody asked.
"Yes... the English words that he used in places were slightly different, but with the same meaning - but that was because he was transliterating, so there are always some slight variations.
Then I asked him to say it out loud in ancient Egyptian.
Now that was the real test, because hieroglyphics is an 'abjad language', as the symbols do not have any vowels.
As Teddy explained to me, most Egyptologist would love to have Ashraf help them, as he could turn ancient Egyptian into a living 'spoken language' - but it's not as if we can't guess at the vowel sounds, but we may not be saying them quite right - and you should remember that when you say ancient Egyptian names, like those of the pharaohs." Novius said.
Hi-Tech Sarcophagus |
"Yes, I do, and I think that the fact that he is here today is because of the sarcophagus", Novius replied.
"And Teddy - where do those hieroglyphics actually come from, or did you just make them up.?", Jim asked.
"Well making them up would be very difficult.
No... they actually come from the 'Stele of Ankh-ef-en-Khonsu' - which is in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo - although we never actually saw it when we visited the museum the first time we came to Egypt.", Teddy replied.
"So, we've got a real ancient Egyptian with us !", Max said with a smile.
"Now that's all sorted out... thanks to Teddy, - but how would these guys, Lehner and Hawass, knowing about Ashraf, be a problem ", Brody persisted - looking to Jim for an answer.
"Well, at the moment I don't want to go into too much detail, but we suspect that Lehner and Hawass, and the 'Association for Research and Enlightenment' are not simply interested in archaeology and ancient Egyptian history.
Teddy has discovered some interesting facts about A.R.E. that may well link it to other groups, and certain intelligence agencies that would dearly like to have information about - and maybe possession of - such things as 'dimensional portals' and a 'high tech sarcophagus' - so we need to be very careful !", Jim said - sounding very serious.
One of Cayce's controversial claims was that of polygenism. According to Cayce, five human races (white, black, red, brown, and yellow) had been created separately but simultaneously on different parts of the Earth. Cayce also accepted the existence of 'aliens' and Atlantis. Another claim by Cayce was that 'soul-entities' on Earth intermingled with animals to produce 'things' such as giants that were as much as twelve feet tall. The 'Hall of Records' is an ancient library claimed by Edgar Cayce to lie under the Great Sphinx of Giza, which is in the Giza pyramid complex. Quite recently, Zahi Hawass, Chief Director of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, undertook excavations beneath the main body of the Sphinx at Giza and rediscovered access tunnels to several large, apparently natural, caves directly under the Sphinx. Reportedly no artefacts were found. The story of the 'Hall of Records' is a popular idea among those who hold 'Alternative theories of ancient Egypt'.
"Ah ! But there's no 'Hall of Records-thingy' !", Ethan said in a very loud whisper.
"And what makes you say that ?", Teddy asked, trying not to speak too loudly in case Novius became annoyed.
"Faunus told me....", Ethan replied haughtily.
"Oh ?", Teddy replied.
"Yes - he used the 'portal', and when the door opened, there was just a solid wall of rock where the 'Hall of Records' should have been...
And Faunus said it was not the first time, by any means, that Cayce had got things badly wrong.", Ethan said.
"Now, if I may continue... ", Novius said, glaring at Ethan.
"Having reached the subject of the 'Association for Research and Enlightenment', I think that this would be a good point to consider the other 'channellers', as they are known.
Now undoubtedly Crowley was a channeller, and much of his material centred round Egyptian deities - but from this channelling he constructed a religious system that was uniquely his own.
Schwaller de Lubicz was more of an occultist and philosopher, while Hubbard was simply a hustler.
Parsons probably had some channelling ability, but was also mentally unbalanced.
Andrija Puharich (Henry Karel Puharić) |
This then brings us to Andrija Puharich - a medical and parapsychological researcher, medical inventor, physician, Army Captain, and possible CIA agent - or accomplice) - and an author.
Maybe, in his case, he was a 'jack of all trades and master of none'.
Puharich was not really a channeller, but he took it upon himself to encourage others - often by means of hypnosis - to contact what he believed were 'extra terrestrial entities'.
Puharich was born in Chicago, Illinois, one of seven children born to Croatian immigrants.
At home his parents always called him 'Andrija', which wasn't his real name at birth, but rather, a nickname.
When Puharich started attending school, his parents enrolled him under the name 'Henry Karl Puharich', rather than his nickname 'Andrija'.
During World War II, Puharich attended North-Western University as a student in the 'Army Specialized Training Program'.
He earned an undergraduate degree in philosophy and pre-medicine in 1943 and received his M.D. from the 'North-Western University School of Medicine' in 1947.
His residency was completed at the 'Permanente Research Foundation' in Oakland, California, where he specialized in internal medicine.
From 1953 to 1955, he served as a captain in the US Army Medical Corps, and in this capacity was assigned to the Army Dispensary, 'Army Chemical Centre', Maryland.
By that time Captain Puharich was already presenting papers on the possible military usefulness of paranormal phenomena, and meeting with various high-ranking officers and officials, primarily from the 'Pentagon' in Arlington, Virginia, the 'CIA' in Langley, Virginia and Naval Intelligence, and he also became involved with the Dutch psychic Peter Hurkos.
Puharich, from quite early on, appeared to be obsessed with making contact with the 'Great Ennead' - the 'Nine' - and went through a very large number of individuals, including Yuri Geller in and attempt to make such a contact.
As Puharich was using hypnosis on most of his subjects it wasn't really surprising that he was successful in many of those cases."
At that point Ethan handed out some nicely laminated, colour printed charts detailing the 'gods' and 'goddesses' of the 'Great Ennead'.
"The 'Great Ennead' was a group of nine deities in Egyptian religion worshiped at Heliopolis.
The Nine consisted of the Sun god Atum; his children Shu and Tefnut; their children Geb and Nut; and their children Osiris, Isis, Seth, and Nephthys.
The Ennead sometimes includes the son of Osiris and Isis, Horus.
Ennead is a borrowing via Latin of the Greek name Enneás Ἐννεάς, meaning 'the Nine'.
The term was a translation of the Egyptian name, written 'Psḏt' and also meaning 'the Nine.
Its original pronunciation is uncertain, since hieroglyphs, as we have already explained, do not record vowels.
Egyptologists conventionally transcribe it as 'Pesedjet'.
According to the creation story of the Heliopolitan priests, the world originally consisted of the primordial waters which they called Nun.
From it arose the mound of Zep Tepi.
Upon the mound sat the self-begotten god Atum, who was identified with the sun god Ra.
Atum evolved from Nun through self-creation.
Atum masturbated, producing air personified as Shu, and moisture personified as Tefnut.
The siblings Shu and Tefnut mated to produce the earth personified as Geb, and the night-time sky personified as Nut.
Geb and Nut were the parents of Osiris and Isis, and of Set and Nephthys, who became respective couples in turn.
Osiris and Isis represent fertility and order, while Set and Nephthys represent chaos to balance out Osiris and Isis.
Horus, the son of Osiris and Isis, is often included in this creation tradition.", Novius explained.
"Mm... complicated isn't it.", Ethan quietly commented.
"And it should be remembered, that this Heliopolitan religion is far older than the 'Pyramid Texts', and we know this from the archaic form of language used - which dates from well before 2400 BC. ", Novius said.
"And was that the kind of writing that Ashraf translated ?", Glen asked, sounding a little confused - like Ethan.
"Oh no... Ashraf would find the 'Pyramid Texts' very difficult to read.
The 'Stele of Ankh-ef-en-Khonsu', you see, dates from about 1400 BC - but with the 'Pyramid Texts' it would be like us trying to read the very earliest forms of English - which unless you're a trained scholar - would be practically impossible.", Novius explained.
Teddy and the Pyramid Texts |
"Now that's because Teddy is a very clever bear - and much more clever than I am.", Novius said, quite seriously.
Glen looked surprised, but accepted Novius' explanation.
The 'Pyramid Texts' are the oldest ancient Egyptian religious texts, dating to the late Old Kingdom. They are the earliest known corpus of ancient Egyptian religious writings. Carved in 'Old Egyptian' hieroglyphics, the pyramid texts decorated the subterranean walls and sarcophagi of pyramids at Saqqara from the end of the Fifth Dynasty, and throughout the Sixth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, and into the Eighth Dynasty of the First Intermediate Period.
So Novius continued - undoubtedly conscious that he had been speaking for some considerable time...
"Now you've all listened very attentively, but this is taking quite a long time - but there is still a little more that I must say.
And if you're wondering why I am giving this talk, well... it's because Jim is concerned that the information that you all have could be quite a problem if you inadvertently spoke about it to other people outside our group."
"You see, because you've all used the 'portal', and also most of you have met Ashraf, this means that you know about some things that some others would very much like to get their hands on - so you need to know what all this is actually about, and once I've finished, you may ask any questions that you feel that you need to - and discuss the matter - but after that - well, the less said the better, even between one another.", Novius said.
"But to get back to where we were... Puharich was not the only one interested in the 'Nine'.
Schwaller de Lubicz also mentioned the 'Nine' in his books, and referred to them as the 'Nine Principles', and he was also one of the first to refer to them as 'Neteru', which can be translated into English as 'Principles' - but is often wrongly translated a 'gods'
Robert Bauval |
These researchers include such authors as Robert Temple - an American - and the British writers, Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval, who is Belgian, but was actually born in Alexandria, and spent his boyhood years and later youth in Egypt, have taken a different turn.
Theirs is not the work of 'channellers', but they rather present themselves as 'serious' researchers, and they have published a number of 'best selling books'.
However, in these various books and statements on the internet they have often made reference to the 'Nine', while expounding their rather complex, and often not particularly well thought out theories about Ancient Egypt, and in particular the Pyramids, and the Sphinx.
They have tended to suggest dates relating to ancient Egypt well outside the range accepted by orthodox Egyptologists, and have also included, in their 'Alternative Egyptology', theories about 'Atlantis' and the possible 'alien', and maybe even Martian, origins of Ancient Egyptian civilisation.
His controversial work, with geologist Robert M. Schoch, was presented in an 'NBC' special called 'The Mystery of the Sphinx'.
The documentary maintains that the main type of weathering evident on the Great Sphinx, and surrounding enclosure walls, could only have been caused by prolonged and extensive rainfall during the time period from 10,000 to 5000 BCE, and that the Sphinx was carved out of limestone bedrock by an ancient advanced culture.
It is an accepted fact that Great Sphinx does not appear in any known inscription of the Old Kingdom and there are no inscriptions anywhere describing its construction or its original purpose.
In the New Kingdom, the Sphinx was revered as the solar deity 'Hor-em-akhet' - which in English is 'Horus of the Horizon', and the pharaoh Thutmose IV specifically referred to it as such in his 'Dream Stele'.
The Sphinx was also known as 'Shesep ankh Atum' - 'the living image of Atum'
West's dating, of course, challenges the orthodox dating of the carving of the statue, which is generally held to have occurred around 2500 BCE.
West, therefore, suggests that the Sphinx may be more than twice as old as originally suggested, estimating it be from 35000 BCE, some 37,000 years ago whereas Schoch made a more conservative determination of between 5000 and 7000 BCE.
Interestingly, West has written about the Dogon, an unusual ethnic group, to be found in the central plateau region of Mali, in West Africa.
Robert K. G. Temple |
This, of course, brings us to Robert K. G. Temple, who many consider the be the originator of the current 'New' or 'Alternative' Egyptology.
West is best known for his best selling book 'The Sirius Mystery'.
In this book Temple supports the 'Ancient Astronauts Hypothesis' that intelligent extra-terrestrial beings visited Earth, and made contact with humans in antiquity and prehistoric times.
There are two editions of the book - the second being entitled 'The Sirius Mystery: New Scientific Evidence of Alien Contact 5,000 Years Ago'.
The book presents the hypothesis that the Dogon people of Mali, in West Africa, preserve a tradition of contact with intelligent extra-terrestrial beings from the Sirius star system.
These beings, Temple suggests, have taught the arts of civilization to humans, and to have originated the systems of the Pharaohs of Egypt, the mythology of Greek civilization, and the Epic of Gilgamesh, among other things.
Dogon Dancers |
A substantial bulk of 'The Sirius Mystery' consists of comparative linguistic and mythological scholarship, pointing out resemblances among Dogon, Yoruba, Egyptian and Sumerian beliefs and symbols.
The Sirius Mystery is written in an extremely scholarly academic and manner, like most of Temple's work, but critics have claimed that many of the basic claims do not bear scrutiny.
One significant point regarding 'The Sirius Mystery' is the fact that the CIA took and inordinate interest in both Temple and the book - actively attempting to disrupt publication by 'stealing' some of Temple's research documents,
J J Hurtak |
Another individual connected to 'The Nine', and also with Gizeh, is J J Hurtak - who is someone who is not only an author, but also seemingly involved in research on the actual Gizeh Plateau - and who also runs a 'business' from a dedicated website.
It is difficult to pin down Hurtak, as he dabbles in 'environmental sciences' (?), 'international space law' (?), as well as 'remote sensing' and unconventional hypotheses in planetology, archaeology, mysticism - especially Kabbalah-based ideas about gematria and the Merkabah, and 'pseudo-scientific' approaches to religion and philosophy.
Through the so called 'Academy for Future Science', Hurtak peddles a mélange of Jewish and Christian fundamentalism, and 'Egyptomania' - including references to the 'Nine', and what appears to be blatant 'Islamophobia'.
It is also suggested that Hurtak has long term links with 'SRI International', and US Government organisations, including the CIA.", Novius explained.
SRI International (SRI) is an American 'non-profit' scientific research institute and organization headquartered in Menlo Park, California. The trustees of Stanford University established SRI in 1946 as a centre of innovation 'to support economic development in the region'. The organization was founded as the Stanford Research Institute. SRI formally separated from Stanford University in 1970 and became known as SRI International in 1977. SRI performs client-sponsored research and development for government agencies, commercial businesses, and private foundations. It also licenses its technologies, forms strategic partnerships, sells products, and creates spin-off companies. The CIA and the Defence Intelligence Agency sponsored the 'Stargate Project' at SRI, Menlo Park.
US Defence Intelligence Agency
Lambert Dolphin Jr. |
Information regarding this individual is difficult to find, but Teddy has discovered that he is a friend of Zahi Hawass - which is odd, as Dolphin is a rabid christian fundamentalist, while Hawass is supposed to be a Muslim.
Dolphin is also connected to the ubiquitous 'Association for Research and Enlightenment' and 'SRI International', which trails with it associations with the 'CIA' and other US Government agencies.
And for some reason Dolphin has been researching on the Gizeh Plateau, but has also been conducting research on the 'Temple Mount' in Jerusalem - which is a similar stance to his 'friend' J J Hurtak.
"Well there is a lot more that I could tell you about this, but I think you've heard enough for one day.
So... all that's left for me to do is to tell you about the conclusions to which Teddy and I have come.
Firstly, there are mysteries about how and why the ancient Egyptians built many of their strange monuments, such as - obviously - the pyramids, but also the temples on the Gizeh Plateau, the Serapeum at Saqqara and the Osireion at Abydos - but also smaller objects, such as the tiny vases, and other vessels made of basalt, granite and porphyry - which appear to be technically impossible to manufacture, even with today's technology.
Now as you will realise, one easy conclusion to draw is that 'aliens' came and made and constructed these artefacts... (at this point Ethan had to resist an overwhelming urge to ask Novius what 'artefact-thingys' were - but by then he had come to realise that all he needed to do was remember the word... and then ask Teddy later.) ... but that conclusion would require at least some written and visual evidence, and also the possibility of material evidence of 'alien' presence in the form of advanced technology - which seemingly doesn't exist.
Step Pyramid Serapeum at Saqqara Osireion at Abydos |
As such, these monuments, and other artefacts must remain 'mysteries'...
As to the dating of the original Egyptian civilisation, we have a number of choices.
Manetho |
There is the generally accepted view of 'orthodox' Egyptologists - the extended dating of the 'Alternative' Egyptologists - or the 'extreme' dating provided by the various 'King Lists', or the dating provided by Manetho, a priest at Heliopolis, who wrote his history of Egypt; the 'Aegyptiaca', during the reign of Pharaoh Ptolemy 'Soter'.
Now as for motives - well, the authors of these books about ancient Egypt are obviously keen to make money from the sales of their books, their lecture tours, television documentaries, and guided tours round Egypt.
Cayce, and his successors - mainly members of his family - made a certain amount of money from advising financiers, industrialists and government agencies.
Interestingly, however, when Cayce was alive, he created a company along with a group of 'oilmen' with the intention of locating oil in Texas.
Oil Drilling - Texas - 1920s |
Equally, the 'Association for Research and Enlightenment' is still searching for the 'Hall of Records', whatever those 'records' might be, and which incidentally, Ethan tells us does not exist.
One is still, after all their books, explorations, strange cults and organisation, left with the question of what it was that all these channellers, researchers and suchlike were hoping to find - particularly in the monuments and sands of Egypt.
Nothing, of course, was ever found - apart from a few mummies, and odd items of gold - as was found in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
But it seems that all these individual, organisations and followers were all convinced that some 'power' - some 'alien technology' - or even the 'gods' themselves - the 'Nine' - could be theirs.
The most likely possibility, however, is that, apart from ancient documents, they are all hoping to find a real 'stargate', or something similar.
Of course, the ancient Egyptians never possessed a real 'stargate' - otherwise ancient Egyptian royalty would be popping up from time to time to do their shopping in New York, or Paris.
UFO - Flying Saucer |
As for 'aliens' - well my views on such matters have shifted a little.
The sheer numbers of reports of sightings of UFOs made by reliable individuals - particular airline pilots and air force personnel make me tend to believe that such phenomena really exist.
Louis Whitley Strieber |
And that brings me to one more case that I should have mentioned before - Louis Whitley Strieber; an American writer best known for his horror novels, but more particularly for 'Communion' - and follow up books - purported 'non-fiction' accounts of his alleged experiences with non-human entities.
Communion |
What is interesting about Strieber is the fact that he has managed to intertwine UFO sightings, alien abduction, Mars, 'channelling' and the 'Nine' all into one huge confabulation.
It is to the image of the 'Alien Grey', featured on the cover of his book 'Communion' we owe, to a great extent to Strieber.
'Communion: A True Story', is a book by American ufologist and horror author Whitley Strieber. The book is based on the experiences of Strieber, who experiences 'lost time' and terrifying flashbacks, which hypnosis, undertaken by Budd Hopkins, later links to an alleged encounter with aliens.Strieber compares the "familiar" being he sees, whom he describes as female, to the Sumerian goddess Ishtar.
Richard Charles Hoagland |
Hoagland has been documented to misappropriate others' professional achievements, and is widely described as a conspiracy theorist and 'fringe pseudoscientist'.
Interestingly, Hoagland has no education beyond the high school level and, according to Hoagland's own 'curriculum vitae', he has no advanced training, schooling or degrees in any scientific field.
Hoagland is mainly known for his espousal of the theories relating to photographs supposedly revealing the 'face', 'pyramids' and 'city' on Mars.
But I think that's enough for now.", Novius said, rising from his seat, as if to leave.
Novius didn't leave, however, but briefly continued, but by delivering his final words they appeared to have greater significance...
"But the important thing to remember is that most of the people that I have mentioned - at least those who are still alive - desperately want the knowledge that we have, as well as the 'sarcophagus' and the 'portal' - and will probably do anything to get those things - even if it is only information.
And remember that they are not alone.
They have the involvement of security services, who are equally intent on acquiring what we have, so you must be ever vigilant.", Novius concluded.
There was then complete silence, as his seemingly youthful listeners digested the seriousness of his last few sentences...
"So... do you have any questions ?...", Novius asked - and was that a twinkle in his eye ?
We catch up with Faunus and Ashraf on the West Bank, while the 'boys' are left, rather unexpectedly with an opportunity to ask Novius some questionsMeanwhile Jim and Clare 'make up', and Jim contacts Captain Hossam asking him to moor the 'Hadeel' on the Corniche next to the Winter Palace so that they can embark on a cruise up the Nile towards Aswan.
